Will Newer 6 Bolt wheels fit on a 68 Chev??

Will the wheels off say a 2002 chev truck with a 6 lug design bolt on a 67-70 chev 1/2 ton??

Take-off wheels are pretty cheap.

yep, they will, make sure your spacing is 6x5.5

Bolt pattern is the same
Off set might be OK, depending on the wheel.
The main holding point is the center hole. The new ones have a smaller hole. Again depends on the wheel on whether they will work with out modifying or not. It's an easy fix. Just have the centerhole machined out. (double check your backspacing first before you spend the machining money).

Maybe I am wrong here, but didn't somebody here do that and ended up machining the centers of them to clear the hubs? Or did I dream that?

Thank you all sooo much

Take off wheels are falling out of the sky up here in Calgary. And I would imagine the aftermarket would also have tons of wheels for newer trucks!!

I was going to convert to 5 lug just for a better selection of wheels. This saves me a ton'o'work.

I am in the process of doing it. I have some 17X8 with 5.5 backspacing. They will fit in the back but they rub the tie rod. I am going to put some 1.5 inch spacers to make them hubcentric. One inch spacer in the front should be enough but I am going with 1.5 or 1.25 to be safe.
I do know that there are some concerns about spacers. If you use a good metal say 6061 aluminum I think you should be fine. By adding the spacer to the set up of the wheel and axel you are realling not moving the moment of the wheel on the axel because you are just pushing the wheel out to the original distance.
I will have more to comment on this in the following weeks. ColoradoK5.com also has some info on the topic. Many 4X4s use them and I haven't heard any problems.

I have tried this. I have a set of wheels from a 03 Tahoe that I was going to use. I picked up a 5th wheel to play with some minor damage to use as a test wheel. I honed out the center so it would fit and have had the wheel on the rear without problems. When I put it on the front it rubbed the tie rod end, and also the tire rubbed the frame when I turned it far enough. This is with a 235x65x16 tire mounted. I do think that a spacer, with longer studs may solve that problem, but question the use of a spacer? I guess that I should do some more research on the spacer.

This is on my 70 C10. It may be different on another year, but I would think that they are the same. If someone else has suceeded at this, I would like to know what they did.
