anyone got automatic drain???????
Looking into automatic drain for my compressor besides H/F. I would like it to be adjustable cause depending on tools etc in use and amount of time used for can cause more water to build up. So anyone have a recomm without killing bank.

Re: anyone got automatic drain???????
Most any compressor house will have them. Grainger is another source. Expect to spend around $100 for a simple electric tank drain. I would highly suggest one with a built in strainer, to catch any scale. If you need to move alot of condensate look for a Jork Tek44. It is built by motorizing a 1/2" ball valve. They will pass scale the size of gravel. The Tek44 lives about 7-10 years in industrial service. For small shops I usually wire a 110v drain to the light switch. That way when you aren't in the shop it's not running.

Re: anyone got automatic drain???????
I've seen a more than a few compressor related accessories at used
industrial tool houses, auctions and the like. Might be worth looking into. Boeing Surplus (back when they were here in Seattle) is a good example. Great subject BTW and keep us posted on what you find! .

Re: anyone got automatic drain???????
After rereading the first post I am a little concerned. Automatic drains are luxury items in a hobby shop. A $10 spring return tank drain from an otr truck shop is usually good enough unless your air compressor is tied to your pay check. So I guess my question is what causes you to want a auto drain. (edv)I hate to see someone buy something and not solve the problem they were after. Case in point I have a friend who manages a used car center. He has self inflicted wet air. He was to cheap to pay for the after cooler option on his compressor. Also wouldn't go for a real drier. His mechanics thought they could fix the wet air with a tank drain so they called a different company. That company promptly installed a $150 drain + $200 service call to install it. $350 later he still has wet air. A compressed air system is just that a System.
