Header clearing motor mount issues!!!

What: 69 C10 Step side, Gen 1 350 SBC, CPP motor mounts (silver ones)

Needed: Headers (shorty ?)

Issue: mid length header hit the motor mounts, finally got a set of huggers on there with major torching and beating of the header to clear the mount on both the driver and passenger sides!

Not running stock (stock looking) manifolds.....just not happening.

Does anyone have a similar set up? Would like to find a set of stainless steel 2.5's!!!

Regards,

J

Re: Header clearing motor mount issues!!!

Many header manufactures are making 67-72 specific headers, Hedman, Sanderson, Doug Thorley, etc. They all do a good job of clearing the stock mount stands and frame with minimal tweaking. If anything the tubular stands will give you a little more room.

What frame holes are the mounts in, IL6 or V8?

If you need to beat up the headers to fit you have acquired the wrong set.

Re: Header clearing motor mount issues!!!

The mounts are as forward as possible, so I'm assuming V8, that could have been an easy fix if they were set back too far. To bad! I only asked because the stock mounts for 69 at least were mounted under the top lip of the frame. These are mounted on top and I don't know how the 67-72 specific headers were designed. To the stock motor mounts I'm assuming.

Thanks for the feedback Lee

Re: Header clearing motor mount issues!!!

I would Ditch the CPP tubular stands. They redesigned them with a lower profile. Many members with LS swaps found they would not clear their headers.

Re: Header clearing motor mount issues!!!

I saw the lower pro motor mount design, looks good. I also see the shorty headers for 88-95 chevy trucks look like they will fit my application. The tube connected to both front most exhaust ports comes up and back vs. down and back. That looks like it would clear any motor mount issues I would have. Any reason it wouldn't work?
