Re: 69 chevy build
My grandson helped me get this far, but unforntuatly he moved to new york. I will try and get the pictures caught up to the progress I have done to the truck. I have learned so much from this forum.

Re: 69 chevy build
Well I didn't get much done on the truck this weekend, the sun is out and I had yard work to get done. I did manage to strip the frame down more.

Re: 69 chevy build
Update I got my frame stripped and painted. I'm going to try and remember how to post pictures. It's been slow going for a year. But I'm on track now. Got most of my parts from LMC. I set a goal of together but not painted. 08-14

Looks good.
Are you using a phone to take pics? If so hold it the other way...if not, I dunno.

Re: 69 chevy build
Here are a couple of pics that will give a idea of how I lifted my cab off the frame.

Re: 69 chevy build
Wow, you've done some excellent work so far.
Your's is the same color my "69 stepside was (white over red now). I always thought someone had painted it with turquois and did a poor job. Especially when there was white underneath the turquois I assumed the truck was originally white since interior metal was white and engine cowl was white. Or had your truck been repainted turquois too? |

Re: 69 chevy build
Got my gas tank all lined up and the filler cap is going to line up with the boards perfect.

Re: 69 chevy build
I opened my box that has my grill in it from LMC. And this is what I found, I called them they want pictures of the box and grill so I sent them. It was not damaged in shipping, you can see the box has no marks on it. Hope I can get this fixed.

Re: 69 chevy build
Your doing a excellent job on your project. LMC isnt the only company that has grille issues if it makes the situation any less worse. I don't live far from a LMC competitor and occasionally make it in there. I once seen 4 69-70 grilles in the clearance parts corner that customers had returned due to blemishes.

Re: 69 chevy build
Got a little bit more done last night. Now I got to get my springs in, put some weight on it so I can get my spindles and disc breaks on.

Re: 69 chevy build
Good idea for the poor man's hoist! I did something very similar in my condo when installing the new hot water tank onto a stand.
In fact, the pics of your hoist inspire me to frame-off restore my own truck! And I think I see how to do it! Last edited by In The Ten Ring; 09-19-2013 at 06:29 PM. |

Re: 69 chevy build
One step forward and four back. Seems when you buy the drop spindle you need the newer balljoint. I think 71-72 balljoint, got some coming from the local parts store. Ran out of chassis paint, ordered some from jegs and its back ordered. Haven't heard from LMC on the grill yet, think I might give them a call Monday.
