Ventilated Drums???

The Sept issue of Custom Classic Trucks has an article about
upgrading the brakes on 50s era trucks. They replace the front
drums with disc brakes and they drill the drums on the rear.

Has anybody ever had this done to drum brakes? Could you do this to front
drums? Is the exact layout of the holes critical? Are the edges
of the holes bevelled?

While I can't answer your questions, i have had this done in the past on another vehicle.
1974 Maveric with a 302/C4 tranny, 4 wheel drums. I had a buddy with a machine shop do it up, he had told me it was going to help like night and day, it did get rid of a little fade...but mostly, it just made my drums crack, just like the rotors that are drilled.
