Dubb907 72 Chevy swb Dropmember

I have been wanting to start a thread for awhile. I had been looking at Nates website for a few years putting together a plan for a build. I was going to build a 68 c10 but i already have a pretty nice one. So i decided on the 72c10. I have collected a few parts for the build.
Porterbuilt parts: Front and rear dropmembers, body drop, steering, front brakes and spindles, and a Porterbuilt stainless fuel cell.
Other parts: Ram jet 502 and JW Turbo400
All weather stripping and side mouldings.
Brake booster & steering column.
All the body panels are new. But are a little weathered from being outside.
Quite a few parts.
I bought this 72 from a friend and it had already been bagged w/link and different cross member and rack & pinion. I will be taking this frame and putting it under my 71 GMC stepside. So i have a 68 frame thats going to get the full porterbuilt setup for the 72.

The yellow 68 my friend David Neal built. I will post some more pics up in a few days. It has a ls1 22/24 centerline smoothies with 69 camaro hubcaps. It's been chopped 1 3/4"s. the windshield was layed back and the rear window was layed forward. The bed has a 94 Chevy bed floor and wheel humps. The back of the bed has been cut and layed forward to match the front fenders. David and his friends did a awesome job.

Re: Dubb907 72 Chevy swb Dropmember

Well it's been snowing for the last few days. Got my frame all stripped. Waiting for the snow to stop so I can sandblast it. Think I'll do it today no matter what. Where I live at the guy who used to do powdercoating shut his doors. So no powdercoated frame for me. Bummed.

Re: Dubb907 72 Chevy swb Dropmember

So I checked around town to see how much it would be to get my frame sandblasted. Got quotes that range from 10hrs to 4hrs. Price range was from 400 to 1000. what a difference. So i decided i would do it myself!!!!! 45 minutes later frame sandblasted and 90 bucks.

I really like the 68. Can't wait to see more follow ups on the 72. I can tell from your collection you have been planning this build for awhile. Have you thought about paint color yet? Subscribed!

Re: Dubb907 72 Chevy swb Dropmember

No I'm not selling the yellow truck. It's by far one of my favorites. Can't wait to see Dave's new truck when he finishes it. Talked to him a few days ago and it sound like he was going to do a quick build with a static drop and his centerline smoothie with caps again. Guy never stops!!!!

Re: Dubb907 72 Chevy swb Dropmember

Been making some progress lately. Got my axles in a few days ago. Keep forgetting to bring the camara. This week I plan on setting the cab and adding the high hump. Try to get pics this week to post up.

Hopefully there are some photos on that camera, last we seen was a baremetal frame, now you're setting the cab on it! I love these trucks with a ramjet, wish i gotten one of them.
