Lowering truck
My son wants to lower his 72 GMC longbed. If we use 2.5" spindles and 2" drop springs will this be too low for a daily driver. Also he is 17 years old.... When you lower the front that much do you need to change shocks? Forgot to add he will be running 15x8 rally wheels with 255 / 60 tires.
Thanks, Parrish Last edited by PMS; 07-16-2005 at 12:30 PM. |

By running lower coils, you'll need different shocks. a 4" drop is fine for a Daily Driver, he'll just have to be more careful at the bottom of some driveways, speed bumps, etc.
What are you going to use to drop the rear? Is it leaf spring or coil spring? |

It is a leaf spring rear. I was going to contact a local spring company to handle the rear after we got the front done.

Lefty has about a 5" front & 7" rear drop. I run 3/4 ton shocks with no problem.
not to mention I have the same front tires with 275/60 's on the back. clearance is sufficient
