88' Bench in a 72. info and pics?

ANyone know if it will bolt right up? i can get a free one , but i want to know if it works first. i have 66 impala buckets in there right now, but im pretty sure they bolted right up to the original holes. any info or even pics of late model bench seats in these old trucks.

thanks in advance

Those sits fit the cab nicely but you will have to drill some new holes.

the front 2 bolt holes will work, you will have to drill 2 new holes for the rear.i have an early '90's bench seat in mine, it works great....

Re: 88' Bench in a 72. info and pics?

I put a 60/40 bench seat out of a '92 GMC into a '72 Chevy pickup and it fit great, but like said before I had to drill a few holes.

they fit good . you have to drill the rear holes , and i used 1/4 plate to lift the rear up a little .also be sure to put a plate of some sort underneath to strengthen the floor

Re: 88' Bench in a 72. info and pics?

I installed the 60-40 out of a late model 80's truck and had to redrill the holes. I put a 1/2" flat bar under the truck for stiffness. I installed the shoulder harness seat belts also out of the same truck.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

you probably mean '88, not 88' - that's an 88 foot long seat. Not sure if that would fit.

Re: 88' Bench in a 72. info and pics?

Heres mine. If I had to do it again, I think I would section about 2 inches out of the seat bracket to lower it a little. Other than drilling 2 holes, it fit perfect.

I had a 91 Chevy 1/2 ton truck, I loved those seats! The truck too.

Re: 88' Bench in a 72. info and pics?

Here's mine, but I shortened the brackets to get the seat back just below the rear window and I drilled all new holes cuz I wanted my brackets behind the raised portion of the floor where front mount of the factory seat bolts to.

Re: 88' Bench in a 72. info and pics?

Here's mine, same as most others, I used the front 2 holes, and drilled 2 for the back. I like it the way it is, since the front is a little higher, it helps with the angle of the knees.

Of all the older chevy truck seats out there, these seem to hold up the best based on others I've seen in the junk yard.

the back is pretty thin, so you can put it back an inch or 2 more, and as I said above, if you keep the front mount up on the hump, it raises the front of the seat for a better leg angle.

I'm 6' 3"

If I would have left it in there, I'd a cut it down about 3" (pretty sure you can't get em much lower)

I have the 88-98 buckets in there now & if I leave em in there, I'll prolly cut them down

But if you wanna sit really low & look like a midget even though you're really tall, put a 240Z seat on the floor !!!!
I did that for about 4 days & I pulled up at walmart & some kid was staring at me, then I walked by em & said "not so short am I"... Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha

here's mine - I cut the bracket down 1-1/2" - I'm 6' and it was a little high with the stock height.

I'm 6'2", and I think if I made mine lower to the ground, legroom would get worse.
