GM tech help needed?
hey all, I'm doing an l83 swap from a 2014 into my 68 c10. I'm having issues getting the fuel pump module to power the fuel pump. Im running the factory pump,module and pressure sensor from the silverado. I've got power to pins 1,6 and 7, when needed. good ground etc. yet nothing when i turn on the key. wiring is verified as well as wire continuity. Any ideas?

The fuel pump module is the fuel pump assembly itself. Your referring to an issue with the fuel pump power control module? Are you running every module from the silverado? When you start the truck what exactly is the truck doing? Does it crank over? If you have power at the pump when needed it should be coming on. Unless you have a communication issue, can you go in with a scan tool and pressurize the system? Sorry for the integration lol just trying to understand the setup better.

yes the power module, sorry. Im not getting anything from the power module to the pump. As far as modules go I'm only running the ecm, the fuel pump power module, and the fuel pressure sensor.

I'll look at some diagrams tomorrow at work and see what I can find. Can you post a pic you connections from the power module to the pump module?

sure, had them keep the wires when the parts were pulled, i connected pin 8, circuit 120 to pump, pin15 circuit 7444, and pin 16 circuit 1580. the other wires were for level sensors which I'm not using

What about pins 4, 5, 11, 12, 13, 14; what's the story on those? You need those communication lines so the ECM can command pressure changes, also what about pin 2 (out signal) and your using 9 as your ground?

You need those pins all separate to the ecm. What are doing about your theft system? Without the BCM it's going to kill your fuel system.

ok, pin 4 is connected to ecm pin 36 x1,and 5 is connected to pin 37 x1 from the ecm. pins 11 and 12 are connected together as well as 13 and 14. pin 9 is grounded to the chassis, pin 2 is connected to pin 44 x1 of the ecm as well.

i couldnt find where the bcm had any control over the fuel system. We had the vats flashed from the ecm.

so your saying they need to be hooked up individually? pins 4,11,12 are all on circuit 7493, 5,13,14 are all on 7494

Older theft deterrent would shut the fuel system down. I'm not very familiar with the l38, I see what your saying about them being in the same circuit. With it flashed I'm kinda stumped, I know the power module is for the manipulation of fuel pressure. The high pressure pump has its own regulator, and the only reason for the pump needing to drop pressure would be for cylinder deactivation? If so couldn't you just delete the module and run power to the pump? Have a regulator plumbed for the 60 psi or whatever it requires? Just throwing ideas out there.

Okay, I talked to a coworker who's in the auto shop. I dwell mostly in the diesel truck department lol, and he confirmed what I said. You can run a regular fuel injection pump with a regulator.

Ok, so the ecm should return here on friday, well plug it in and see what happens. The ecm was wiped and reflashed as a 2014, Apparently its a 2015 motor and ecm. Hp tuners is having issues in getting the 2015 ecm to shut down the vats.... Hoping this is the issue> will keep you posted

got a crazy question...
we got this baby fired up and it purrs like a kitten however around 1800 rpm on deceleration only its makes a "flutter" noise. It seems to be coming from the front drivers side of the engine. At idle and throttle up its great. It will do it under load but just at @ 1800-2000 rpm. We thought the vacuum pump so we took the belt off but that wasn't it. Header is tight,.... Any ideas?????? |

Congrats on getting the vats issue resolved. I couldn't help but notice how clean your tank looks mounted there. Can you tell me where it came from and how low does it hang down?

hey, Its actually just a summit fuel cell. It doesn't hang low at all which is great! only problem i have with it is it only 16 gallons. Not a huge issue but takes more fill ups that way
