It's not fun for us to know where you are going unless we know where you have been!

That's a nice uncle; I would have had you strip the entire thing before taking it in...

Re: pics of my truck with the swb on

oh, i am doing all the grunt work... he said i can work on it in his shop tonight, and tomorrow. he might help sand a little.

the prep is everything, with out good prep the paint will look like $hit, so im going to have a few hours into it by tomorrow afternoon.

hopefully by thursday, i will be installing the badges, trim etc and have a few decent pics.

I have yet to decide on white, or white and black!!

I don't blame your uncle for not wanting to touch a truck with any yellow.

J/K, Jeff.

Like Jeff suggested, a good paint job will take quite a bit of time and effort as you know. But, panel by panel, you're making progress. For a moment, I thought that we were going to see this site's version of overhaulin' with such a quick paint turn around.

If you match the white, you won't have to paint the jambs, etc. But, if you go with some black, you'll have to shoot the jambs and, possibly the interior as well as some of the other 'hidden' places depending on your paint scheme. And, with black, the panels must be straight to look good. Black will take more effort to keep clean. With that said, white/black would look , even black/silver...
I'm sure the vision come to you, sometime during your sanding/stripping escapade.

Hey hey...nothing wrong with Yellow!

That is a quick turnaround for a paint job...don't rush and take your time...you'll be glad you did.

Re: pics of my truck with the swb on

so far im going all white...

ill be headed down there in a few hours, and ill take a fwe pics. So far the only parts that are going to be stripped to bare metal is the enitre box, and the hood. the rest is the original paint and it wasnt all that bad, just faded and peeling on the hood. Im sure its going to turn into more work, it always does.

tan/brown dash pad, but alot of it is in rough condition... it has some custom bucket seat interior that faded to a dull purple/tan. ill have to take a pic, its hard to explain.

I saw a 40 Willis Coupe with a blown Hemi at a GoodGuys car show. It was clear coated bare metal. You could see a couple of bullet holes and the gas filler hole brazed in. Something so simple...clear over metal...was really impressive. Gives a new definition to "No Bondo"

Can't wait to see some pictures. Sanding and prep work sucks but the harder you work at it and do a good job the end result will look so much better. Keep up the good work!

Re: pics of my truck with the swb on

ok, so i spent another day sanding the box side. this time i used a 180grit, and holy cow is my uncle picky, wich is a good thing i think. i have only a few pics from two nights ago, but ill post them in a bit. i cannot believe how much work it is to prep. i have about 30+ hours just in sanding and prep work.

im no longer going to guess when she'll be done. maybe in a month hahaha.
