What to do?

Ok...I fixed the trans. leak by getting a DERALE pan and Moroso blue gasket and LOKAR anchor lock dipstick, but earlier this week I had checked the fluid level and it seemed low so I added a few more fluids into it. Now, I had put too much trans. fluid where it had a slight leak. Do I have to take out the whole pan and clean out the gasket or I just drain 2 qts or so and hope that stops the slight leak w/o removing the pan??? .

Re: What to do?

Are you checking the transmission fluid with the truck warmed up and running?

Only when the truck is warm and not running.

Re: What to do?

You need to check the fluid level while the truck is running to get an accurate reading.

Thanks...but what about my question. I drained 2 quarts or so, hoping that I don't have to remove the pan and clean out the Moroso blue gasket (reusable) then install again. I only ran the truck for radiator flush and around the block a couple times. Do you think this will stop the slight leak or I have to remove the whole thing and clean the rubber/steel gasket and reinstall again.

Time and driving will tell. If you drained enough to bring it back to the normal range while checking as Ledd Zep suggests, and it still leaks...then you'll have to do more to address it. But it's possible that just by draining to a normal level will stop it.

...I hope so. I drained close to 3qts. How much qts does our regular transmission w/ stock pan carry? My Derale pan requires 2+qts.

Check your service manual and see how many quarts of fluid it needs... then add 2 to that. But that number also includes a full torque converter. That's one of the reasons why you check it warm, with the vehicle running.

The tranny fluid will expand a bit when warm, and also it will be running through the valve body, and torque converter.
