Radio (Aftermarket)
I have a 1980 Scottsdale 1/2 ton.I was wondering if there is a way to install an aftermarket cd player without cutting the factory dash?Do they make an install kit to mount somewhere else?Any help would be appreciated.Thanks Sinister1

If you want it in there you are going to have to cut something.

you could possibly make some sort of brackets to mount it under the dash area. it would be hanging pretty low though

You could always use an FM-modulated CD changer instead. The controller mounts on the dash with adhesive. This works really well if you have a center console.
It's how I did mine...

LMC sells a cassette stereo with CD changer controls that will fit in the stock location. Kinda pricey though. Page 89 of the 2004 Winter Edition.

I left my stock radio in the original dash mount
as a theft deterrent, I mounted the Real CD- MP3 in the glove box and the amps/speakers behind the seat.

its not really as hard as you would think to cut the dash if you have the right tools. a dremel tool is needed for this job. just make sure you outline the radio right and have a steady hand. i did mine in about an hour. looks like it came from the factory.

thats the thing I dont want to cut the dash.the truck is all orignal and 100% rust free.so i'm trying to keep it orignal as possible.i have some ideas what to do just gotta start fabricating,i'll keep ya posted on what i come up with
