found this little gem in the rough
Has a 350, 4 on the floor. Was originally 6 cyl 3 OTT. Truck has over 300,000 miles on it, motor has about 75,000 on it the guy said. Hes owned it 22 years. Hasnt been on the road for 7 months due to tranny linkage being messed up. I asked if it's for sale (no sign on it). He saud no...few mins later he said, "youre not gonna part it out are ya". no I said."youre not gonna make it drag on the road are ya". No I said, just wanna drive it. Come back tomorrow then and we can talk about a price.......

Nice find. Cool li'l stepper. Do you plan to part it out or make it drag on the road?

Re: found this little gem in the rough
Probably in better shape than my '72 stepside! Mine has lots of bondo and still needs cab corners! (I can see the pavement on the driver's side). That looks to be all surface rust.
It does look a little beat up....keep us posted! Good luck getting her! |

Re: found this little gem in the rough
Its a little beat up...I dunno what the the drivers side, but the fender, door and the rocker are pretty much trash. Its a cool little truck though.

Re: found this little gem in the rough
Cool truck! I'd try to buy it and save it. A good bath would help it a bunch. Doors and rockers are easy.
By the way - THANK YOU for your service to our country.

Re: found this little gem in the rough
I looked at this one that was on Craigslist last summer like that just to crash around in (with 8" steelies and my Muncie 4spd...and seat). It's on a country road near me and I've been aware of it for many years. Always looked for it when driving that road. The guy had it at $3k which was ridiculous. I looked anyway because it was close and I tactfully gave him my way lower offer while letting him know I hoped he could get his 3k (but if no luck I'd be there with cash right away). Also, his house needs a ton of work,I think he's pretty poor, and I offered a to give a good trade on work for his house (Vinyl siding. Don't mind working and I'd only have the material cost in it,if it was stuck at $3k). Anyway,I guess someone (foolish) gave him the 3k cuz it was gone a week later. Oh well,I guess there are those who don't know the proper value of these trucks out there.
I hope his "I'm attached to it" price isn't as crazy. That one is much nicer. This one had rust out everywhere, except header panel/gutter

I really like the '67 green one, but either would do for me.

Re: found this little gem in the rough
The more I look at the 68 I want it. A clr bath, some good wheel covers, a decent steering wheel. I'd drive it like that for a while.
Maybe if I end up not picking it up a local guy here will

Re: found this little gem in the rough
I really wanted it. Waited over 25 years to see it for sale. But he was stuck on $3,000 firm when I looked at it. I could get a truck 5x nicer for 2x as much. It needed a floor, lowe back of cab/rear support area looked really bad, kick panels, cowl plenum, doors, and most everything else. Although I was only going to fix what was needed to drive, mainly the floor

Re: found this little gem in the rough
Being a big window ups the value a bit. Patina? That's way beyond patina. What do you think it's worth as is?

Re: found this little gem in the rough
I one of those guys that's hard to purchase from. Lowball me and ill send you packing. Bring Cash, and be respectful. You have studied on it. make him a decent offer for the biggest amount your willing to pay. Don't go over that price and don't lowball him. If he declines. Just state that is all you can pay. Let him know the offer is good for only a short time because your looking at others. Ive bought a lot of vehicles that others thought couldn't be bought.
