Sad, Sad story....
I'm so bummed right now I can hardly type. I've been away for awhile with other projects but thought I was fixing to be a classic chevy truck owner again soon.... I was planning on picking my new blazer on Monday but it's not looking good now. I took my '69 SS Chevelle down to the local car wash cause a guy was coming to look at it to buy it and on the way home it hiccupped, then died. Well, I coasted into a friends house who is gearhead and we began troubleshooting. To make a long sad story short, the engine somehow filled with water. So far, I've only found 1 spark plug that had a bent strap. The intake pushrod on that same cylinder was slightly bent but the exhaust pushrod was fine. No valves dropped either... Hmmm. I'll crawl under it tomorrow and see if I can turn it with a flywheel wrench. I don't see any way around the engine having to come out and being gone through....
I'm glad it happened now and not a week or two from now with a new owner... What does this all mean??????? well, if the money I was going to spend on the blazer is being spent on rebuilding this engine then it means NO BLAZER FOR ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so freakin' bummed! sorry, I just had to vent some frustration. I was so looking forward to a blazer....

Re: Sad, Sad story....
Sorry, I'm probably planning on keeping the car now and finishing it. Now it will also have a fresh original engine. It's an original SS396 car. The first pic is from when the car was new in 1969 or early '70 (original owner wasn't sure) The second pic is after my uncle (the 2nd owner of the car) painted it purple and how it sits now... The 3rd pic is how I had hoped the car would look after I finished it (Photoshop is great!) However, I got the Blazer bug again and was willing to give this classic muscle car up to feed the blazer obsession. Oh well, I guess it just wasn't meant to be....

Re: Sad, Sad story....
Sorry to hear about the Chevelle. You probably would have had 1 pissed off buyer if it happened to them. Maybe they will take it for a few dollars more with a fresh rebuild, then you could get the Blazer. Where is the sticks, TX?

Re: Sad, Sad story....
You posted as I was typing. I guess I better pick up my speed. If your Chevelle was a 66 I would attempt a trade. My wife would kill but it would be fun.

You could also post a WTT ad in your local Craigslist.

Re: Sad, Sad story....
Don't get me wrong, I love the car. I just need something cool and classic that I can do a little work in too....
