Re: Another one bites the dust (truck is totalled)

and a couple more, the rear axle was tied down to the tie down that was screwed to the floor, pulled the tie downs out, broke the rope & the rear axle in the bed still bounced and did this to the bed floor and tailgate.

Are you ok? Besides being sick to your stomach at the damage.

Re: Another one bites the dust (truck is totalled)

did the frame/suspention get touched?
That shouldn't be totaled onless they start playing the "it was just an old truck" card.
Don't settle untill you are satisfied.

Hope you are alright.

Re: Another one bites the dust (truck is totalled)

What the crap is wrong with people? Glad your OK. I get tailgated in bumper to bumper traffic in G-ville going to and from work and everywhere else in G-ville and I'm sick of it. I'm almost scared to get my truck done and take it to G-ville. I'm definately having it appraised before it's insured.

On a good note, she looks very fixable If, like Andy said, there is no frame damage

Re: Another one bites the dust (truck is totalled)

I am fairly sure the frame is bent, the steering wheel is about 1/2 a turn off now, the rear axle does not sit correctly, I have not looked underneath. Thye drivers door will not shut completely now, even with the drivers door shut all the way, it still rattles in & out.

From what I can see, I would need rocker, back panel, bedside, part of the floor, possible bent frame, tailgate, repair on bed floor, repair or replace on rt door. That is just at first glance. I have not tried to open passenger door. There may be other damages. When I am not so wound up I will check it out better.

I am a little sore in the back and neck. Gonna go get checked out just to make sure. I wanna make sure this won't cause problems later down the line.

I will keep everyone posted.

Thanks for the support.

shame it wasn't another couple feet to the left and she would have bounced off of your tire.

Re: Another one bites the dust (truck is totalled)

That sucks. What you need is a parts truck, you have a project truck,or vice versa

The good thing about a truck is you can change everything.

Good luck with the ins.don't let them buy that truck for a couple hundred dollars like they always want to.Sometimes you have to get "serious" with those jokers.

When they hear you are getting your neck and back checked out they will be a lot more willing to make you happy with your truck.

Re: Another one bites the dust (truck is totalled)

quick update, I got the police report today, it does show the other driver as failure to yield & doing 35 at impact, no improper action on me.

Also I talked with her ins co, she had already filed a claim, and the person I spoke with says "So, she ran the stop sign and hit you, right?" This was before the police report was even ready. Looks like the other person is not going to dispute that it was her fault.

Small victories, but progress nonetheless.

Keep the back and neck trump card ready. A little long term pain goes a long ways to make insurance see the value of your property. Good luck all around. Al

Taht sucks. Sorry to hear about that. It is always the idiots not paying attention. That is why I sold my street bike. The back and neck pains may even help get the new project under way sooner.
