what would you say it is worth?
howdy,
I have my eyes on a 72 gmc super Cheyenne 20 im curious as to what y'all would say it is worth. I will try my best to give info from what I can remember on it. -frame is patched poorly -400 with a intake and carb its kind of weak a little bit basically a rebuilder but runs -SM465 (I think) have to hold it into 3rd gear otherwise it pops out -dual exhaust with mufflers -interior is in ok shape but dash pad is cracked bad -there are holes in the box floor that the bedliner is hiding/covering up -Cab and box do have some bondo not sure how much but its there -paint looks like it was rolled on pretty much a faded matte -dana 44 front 60 rear or 14bolt can't remember -fischer plow and mount, the pump is kind of weak but it raises and such - the push button for the door latch on passenger side is missing/broke -like new 33x12.50x16.5 coopers on some crappy spoke wagon wheels The guy is asking 2500 which is crazy, im wondering what is the borderline of what y'all would say its worth. pics are a little outdated is has been for sale for months so im thinking the guy just might take whatever offer he can get. |

$0. I would hold out for a more solid truck. You will pay dearly if you plan to restore that one.
If you are looking for a yard/plow truck the I would go as high as $1,000.

Re: what would you say it is worth?
First and foremost there is no such thing as a gmc super Cheyenne. GMC would be a Sierra Grande.
Now it sounds like it needs a lot of work, sounds like there are to many issues for the asking price. Quote:

Re: what would you say it is worth?
Given the tires and plow and other parts, you couldn't go wrong for $1400 or less based on parts. Now if theres limited slip, tach, or other goodies, or gas a title then more. Its probably only feasible to be a parts or plow truck, since I'm assuming the cab has rusty supports or poorly fixed supports. Whats the deal with the frame? Was it converted from a blazer frame or swb??? Formerly a C20 coil spring truck?

Re: what would you say it is worth?
I am guessing the frame is junk. Since it was patched already and looks like it hit a few hard snowbanks and may be buckling in the middle i would consider it parts or plow truck only. Looks like some good parts and plow, but i wouldn't go over a grand on it.

Re: what would you say it is worth?
Aside from that frame problem the third pic shows one of the bed cross members rotted out so there is bound to be much more there.I am with the others unless your needing to plow a lot or something really quick I might just wait a little longer. If you are needing it to plow a parking lot you can measure the customer loss compared to the cost of the truck and then maybe you do need it AND still keep looking.

Re: what would you say it is worth?
I'd be under $1K on this. I bought my unmolested, completely stock and rust-free Sierra Grande 402 for $6500. It'd take a lot more than $5500 to get this truck to that condition.
I'd hold out for a better truck. It'll be cheaper and more fun in the long run. Remember they built close to a MILLION per year of these trucks. Unless you're holding out for a big block, buckets, AC and tach truck, don't compromise or rush into the first couple you see.

Re: what would you say it is worth?
I agree to wait but they only made ~2000 K20 pickups in 67 up to about ~20000 at peak in 72. So there aren't a ton to look at but certainly better ones out there than this one. Now if you don't need a K20, then your options open up a lot more.

Nothing, keep looking. That's a parts truck that you can drive home to suck the life out of you and your bank account.

Re: what would you say it is worth?
Like Mr. Windmills said... This is one of those labor of love trucks.
It's worth what you want it for. If you want a driver with a little work this is not for you. Personally, I have a passion for the k20s. That means I'm willing to consider more work and budget for such an animal. Being a plow truck it almost a guarantee it is tweaked. I'd say offer 1/2 and if the seller doesn't go for it wait for something with less work involved to get you on the road. Imho. Also looks like 72 door panels, no rear view mirror, gap between fender door driver side seems squished yet bed seem to tilt to lower right. If seller would take 1500 and I could Drive it away... It would be worth it to me... But like I said k20s are a soft spot for me. I know I'm not much help but there's some thing to think about I guess...

Re: what would you say it is worth?
Offer $250 and part it out. Patched frame like that means its totaled in my book.
