I purchased my first truck today and I'm having trouble removing some of the bolts on the step side fenders. I've been soaking them with WD-40. Does anyone know of other products or ways to get these off?

We use a product called "Aero Kroil" that works very well but you may have to heat the nuts up to get them to move if soaking does not work.

We also have a driver that we got from Sears. It will accept Phillips bits and when you hit it, it rotates to loosen. This keeps the bolt head from stripping out. The driver works very well.

Torching the nuts off is a last resort.

Getting the small bolts loosened on thing s like beds, bed sides, bed fronts, etc. can take more time and effort then it's worth. A quick and simple solution seems to be to put a good ratchet on them (either air or manual) and tighten them till they break off. Don't even try to loosen them!!! Takes a turn or two and your done. Go to Tractor supply and buy replacement bolts/nuts by the pound.

PB Blaster works great! I don't use WD40 any more. Spray it, give it a little time and they will back right out.

i used to swear by liquid wrench til i got a can of pb blaster
getting rusted nuts off i f that dont work i use a dremel with a cutoff wheel

Smoke wrench AKA Oxy/Acetelyne torch. Heat your nuts until cherry read (the ones on the truck). Works every time

If it will reach, buy a cobalt bit, drill through the head, or drill the side of the nut, and split it off. The dremel method also works.

I've had good luck with PB Blaster and heat......even a cheap burnz-o-matic torch will help removing stuck bolts. Just heat the nut.

And also use a "cheater bar" (piece of pipe placed over the wrench for more leveraage) and you can get most bolts out.

If all else fails, grind them off
