Re: it was a good weekend
Looks familiar...
That was 2 years ago. I used a small army of people to lift the body off - what was your method? |

Re: it was a good weekend
Looks strongly built and braced. Always nice to make big chunks of progress on a weekend, isn't it? Nice work.

Re: it was a good weekend
rsavage i built it pretty strong the 4x6's arnt part of the cart there on there for the next step, which i will post pics of it when i get that far but also so when i take the tub off i am goint to take the cross brace out and put a bottom on it so i can store stuff under it and put a top on it so i have a movable table. Seventyone i went the same route as you i had 6 guys plus me the rockers and boxes are gone on it so i didnt want it folding up when i picked it, but when i put it back on i am going to run a 4x4 down both sides inside it and bolt it where the body mounts go and use althread where the front floor drops off and then use some chains and lift it with a cherry picker. the 4x4's should keep the body straight and sagging, but it wasnt to bad we just picked it up and one guy pulled the frame out and anouther guy pushed the cart underneath.

Re: it was a good weekend
I'm beginning to build my cart tomorrow (Thursday) evening. Do you guys have any dimensions/measurements you could share with me on building the cart? I need to be able to bolt the tub to the cart because I'm pulling it up onto a trailed and taking it to the paint shop on the thing. Any advice would be appreciated.

Re: it was a good weekend
I built my cart 4' wide 8' long so when i was done with it i could put some plywood on it and have a nice rolling table. i ran 4x6x12 under it so i could bolt it to them and it would be like a wooden frame. and i got the caster wheels at lowes they were rated for 300 lbs per wheel and i got to that lock

Re: it was a good weekend
and P.S. for any one planning on buying caster.......do not buy caster with flat faced wheels they do not move well get wheels that are rounded they roll so much better
