Could You Hack a Frame?

Okay I know this topic has previously been brought up before but not exactly on the same page. Okay here's the thought. I know you can hack a frame from a lwb to swb on these era trucks, such as like Guru Ebfabman did. But since I got my Feb. issue of Truckin today, I just had a thought. Could you take a 73-87 chevy lwb and make it a swb through the same procedure. It'd make sense if you know where I'm coming from. The only swb's are either rotted, owners want their weight in gold for one, or there are just none for sale. I was just thinking, because I thought it'd be much easier to pick up a lwb truck than a swb. Just a stupid question but I thought I'd ask. Thanks everyone.

Here's a crew cab short bed, I wasn't sure if they made these in half ton, so I asked my girlfriends dad, he's no guru either, but he said he thinks they only made these in 3/4 ton. Anyone know if this frame was cut to a short bed or converted to 1/2 ton or what? Thanks.

you can shorten later model chevy trucks as well. To the best of my knowlege 4 doors came in either 3/4 or 1 ton trucks, and always a long wheelbase in the 73 up. I have seen a 4 door short wheelbase 4x4 that someone shortened the frame on it looked cool. I like that 2wd, where did you see it, with a narrowed rear and a big block I could see myself driving one. lol

Found it at www.Layinbody.com, I know I could find some more modifications to it. There is a 3/4 ton quad cab up where I used to live that belongs to the owners of the "Custom Engine Shop". Custom, pshhh. lol. But I really like this one.
