Factory Trim VS Painted
I was thinking about putting the lower factory trim on my truck when I get it repainted. But then I was thinking about painting the factory trim. Any ideas would HELP!!!!!!

Great truck, you must have been reading my mind on my build. I perfer the factory trim. What size tire/wheel. Stock height? Where did the gas cap come from?

You might be able to get someone to photoshop it on the truck for you for a more realistic idea...or take this picture and use it but change to your color. I tried it three ways, black, blue to match the truck, and with the grille blue.

I saw this truck with painted on trim at the Nashville Good Guys show. It looked really good in person. I guess it would be an option if you didn't want to drill holes in your truck.

To get the painted on trim does it have to be airbrushed on by a good artist?

Painted. To me automotive trim is an add on and never looks that great. I thought I would like it when I bought my CST. It was my very first truck with trim and I wound up not liking it at all. I'm not even a fan of factory badges...I like the clean painted look of custom trucks much better.

I like both. Although not a truck, I saw this a few years and was blown away by the artistic ability of whomever did it. It's all painted on. The car itself is amazing as well!

My opinion is that running only the lower trim, is best served with the '67-68 trim, which also goes over the wheel openings. Chip Foose thought that, too. He used it on a '69-72 that he did on 'Overhaulin'. You wouldn't have to use the taillight/tailgate trim. That would maintain a 'clean' look. But it would be cheaper to buy new/repro trim than to have someone airbrush it on....in my opinion. I haven't priced the airbrushing, though, so I may be mistaken.

i am a beleiver in the painted trim as well. i think it would be alot easier to keep clean & i think it adds a custom look without making it quite so obvious. as far as price goes, i wonder if by the time you add in the cost of new trim, brackets clips & then the money or time to put it on & make it line up i bet you could have a godd airbrush artist (painter) add painted trim to the truck for about the same or maybe even cheaper?????
