To tint or not to tint.
I was wondering how my truck would look if I tinted my windows, I know I would be able to feel a diffrence inside the truck when sitting in the sun all day and the vinly seat sticks to you. Any pics of your 67-72 trucks. Especially olive green ones and 4x4s. But all pics of your awsome rides are welcome. I was just wondering if this style of trucks looked good with window tint.
Thanks. |

Re: To tint or not to tint.
I thought it was illegal to tint windshields? I know you can have the band at the top, but not the whole windshield?

I like a little tint but i'm gonna go with the factory green tint... It doesn't cost that much to have a truck done so why not if you like it...don't do it yourself though. it comes off fairly easy if you decide later that you don't like it. The glue needs a razor blade to remove it.

Re: To tint or not to tint.
Windshield tinting is allowed in several states. In Florida the tint can't extend more than 6" from the edge of the roof. I have had the windows tinted on every car I have ever owned. It saves your interior from damaging sun rays and keeps the inside a lot cooler. Just be careful who you take it to. Very few places strictly monitor these businesses so be selective. There is nothing worse than trying to remove a bad tint job...ask me how I know....

Re: To tint or not to tint.
Not green anymore but it was when I bought it. I bought tinted glass for mine. I would get them tinted.

Re: To tint or not to tint.
I love the classic good looks of our trucks outside and inside. So I prefer showing the whole thing off. No tinting here, but I do like the factory tinted glass. That gives our truck even more of a classic look.
When you have aftermarket tinted windows I think it looks goofy when you have your windows rolled down and your wing window is dark. |

Re: To tint or not to tint.
I think a 25% tint on just the back window would look good. It's amazing how much just that would help with the heat. And you can always keep one of those fold up windshield covers behind the seat & put it up when it's parked.

Re: To tint or not to tint.
I personally like tint. I would go 20% but legal limit in MS is 28%.
Even if you don't want dak windows, you could go 50% and still get the benifits of reduced UV rays and still have a almost stock look.

Re: To tint or not to tint.
I like it clear... does get hot but I have A/C. Also not hard to see out while backing up at night.
That Hubar stuff looks to be pretty neat though (light tint but great UV protection) |

Re: To tint or not to tint.
I've been in the tinting business for many years. State to state differs in % so watch out. Film does protect your interior and cuts down on the heat inside. But you'll notice at the rod shows, most owners don't use it. Not sure why, but I think it's because it takes away from the look of the auto. On a truck (older) they look good w/just the back window done. This is my personal opinion too. The thought of going "real dark" doesn't do your truck justice. Seeing at night becomes a real problem! Most of the film manufactures are selling great products that work very well. I did a Cameo a while back in a 35% and it looked real nice......not too dark....could still see inside, and it cut down on the heat! Anyway talk to your tinting tech and ask about the film....ask him to throw a scrap pc. on your truck....see if you like it!

Re: To tint or not to tint.
I would go with tint. My tint is the darkest i can go in Utah and be legal. I think it looks good on these old trucks, but I wouldn't go too dark. I agree with those who say too dark of tint kinda cheapens your ride. But everyone has their opinion. I think your truck would look good with tint.

Re: To tint or not to tint.
not a truck, but you can see how nice the tint is, and how well you can see through it. i think i will put some on the long horn.

Re: To tint or not to tint.
only my rear window is tinted, i think it looks pretty good without the side windows tinted. ther r 2 main reasons that i dont like tint on these trucks.
1 u kinda look like a ricer 2 i want people to know that im the one driving it wen i smoke them

Re: To tint or not to tint.
I like tinted windows I think ill do the green tinted windows on my 67 in 20-30 years when I build it.
Dark tint, some of you say it cheapens the look, I usually think of limos when I see dark tint on a NICE ride. Its the blue and yellow and pink red purple tints on the ricers that looks cheap to me. Green and grey are factory colors and look good. Now there is differnt qualities of tint too, the cheap tint sold at (insert favorite car parts store) has a cheap look even when its done well. Its hard to explain but good quaity tint looks better. I prefer it to have a slight reflective look, not so much silver as a charcoal grey. Maybe its the real black stuff I dont like. Like I said its hard to explain. The tint on MTDAVE2's car, looks terrific! BOTTOM LINE its your truck bro, do as you please and dont worry about what others think.
