what did you get done this weekend?

I finally got back to work on my truck, haven’t touched it since July. Took a long weekend to shave and primer my doors.

Hmmm, beer and I put in a speed sensor for the TBI computer. Sometimes beer helps out, but only if he doesn't bring too many friends over. 2-5 seems to be a good #.

Re: what did you get done this weekend?

Put new battery cables on and installed the batteries in the track loader. Pulled the cab and front clip, pulled and stored the engine and trans off the 71 ton, loaded the frame on the trailer to take to the school.

Re: what did you get done this weekend?

Went to the Corvette and High Performance swap meet on Saturday and met up with quite a few board members.. had a great time.. got out of there cheap.. bought 6 AM radios and a Strawberry shortcake..

Early Sunday morning spotted a 72 Blazer for parts on Craigslist only 4 miles away.. ended up buying the entire thing.. Had a brand new never fired Crate motor.. new T350 trans.. Factory AC.. perfect hatch, nice doors, not really rusty but pretty much dissasembled..nose was off, no seats and the PO did some damage with a fork lift setting the body back on the cleaned and painted frame.. And it was cheap!! DARN..
Stay away from Craigslist.. Stay away from Craigslist.. Stay away from Craigslist.. I have too many!, I have too many!, I have too many!

Then called on a old ad in craigslist for a new ACC high hump Blue carpet kit for $40.. Had to run and get it even though it was $20 in fuel .. Score!!

Re: what did you get done this weekend?

Beer and I got the frame prepped for blasting, pulled the front axle but lost the fight with the rear one. Hopefully in two weeks she will be ready for paint.

Prepped the bedroom for paint since we just bought our first bedroom set (married 9 years!) and painted ceiling. woohoo

Re: what did you get done this weekend?

Picked up the th400, crossmember, column, radiator, linkages, cooling lines, vacuum lines and stuff from the donor truck. Got my 69 Front clip off and out of the way, mocked up the 68 front end, going to have a bit of fitment issues. Still have to put the 7qt pan on the truck.

Re: what did you get done this weekend?

For my 69; I removed more parts from the cab and stripped both doors to shells.
For my 70; Removed the driverside door handle (it had a broken button) and I installed a working driver side outside door handle,
installed driver and passenger door panels with new window handles and inside door handles, replaced the old driver side hood hinge (which had a broken rivit) with another good hood hinge I had laying around., removed the tranny and installed new front ad rear seals, installed an accelerator return spring and attachment bolt for the th350 kickdown cable on the carb throttle. Cleaned the battery acid off of the battery tray and inner fender and rad support.
Thing I wanted to do. For my 70; I wanted to removed the bucket seats and install a bench seat and remove the harness type seat belts and install stock seat belts, but Sunday night came too fast.

Re: what did you get done this weekend?

Installed new billet 3-groove crank pulley, made 3 trips to the auto parts store for the right belts (don't ask) and got the Power Steering coversion completed on my Blazer. OMG it is so much easier to turn the wheel now! Too bad my tires hit the pitman arm at right full-lock and now I need wheels with less backspacing! I can't believe anyone would have gotten a truck like this without power steering now!

Installed new "Chrome" 100 amp alt. Electrical tape was to cold to work with. Got too cold to install my electric fans, so I went back into the house. Sure wish it would hurry-up and get warm outside.

Re: what did you get done this weekend?

I had a long weekend, so my son and I left early Friday and drove to north Mississippi (or lower Memphis depending on who you talk to) to spend the weekend with my wife at her training location. Got to visit some relatives and met up with the minister that married us. It was a good, but truckless weekend other that sitting in the Dodge a whole lot.

Oh yeah, I realized I don't like 19 degrees as much as I use to. Dang a 40 degree drop in a 5.5 hr drive.

Re: what did you get done this weekend?

Crawled under the truck, pulled the driveshaft and tranny tailshaft to add the plastic speedo gear to the tranny. I had broken the original clip when I swapped trannies and parts stores don't carry the clip, I had to go to a yard to get one Got it back together and I have a speedo that is within 3 mph at higher speeds and almost dead on below 35 mph.

I had been driving by the tach for the past 4 months

I also replaced the stereo pigtail that was shorting out (I had and extra.) and put some new sony speakers in my crappy plastic kick panels. Now I need to figure out how to mount them without drilling holes in them.
