new wheels on the 67

my wheel vintiques ralleys came today, time to change things up a bit for next crusin' season. rears are 5x5 15x8 5.5bs and fronts are 5x5 15x7s. I plan on running 295s on the rear and maybe 245s or something around that size on the fronts, i had 275s all the way around on the truck ralleys but i want to go big and small instead, what looks good with the 295 50s? here are a couple pics...oh and what do you guys think i should ask for my truck ralleys with the tires etc, complete package. they are powder coated and the rubber is probably 70%.

Re: new wheels on the 67

I love mine too. trying to decide whether I want a set of 2" trim rings.....

as for your "old" rims/tires, maybe 400-500 depending on tread depth..

Re: new wheels on the 67

I plan on running 295/50/15s on the rear of my '69 Burb. I wanted to run 265/50/15s in the front, but I don't think BFG makes that size anymore. If they don't, then it will have to be either 255s or 275s. I think the 255s may be too small & the 275s may not provide the "rake" I want, so we"ll see.

Re: new wheels on the 67

67cst,... what made you run a 5.5" BS in the rear? Will you have any clearance issues with the tire/leaf spring area? Also what BS are the front wheels?

Re: new wheels on the 67

i went with a 5.5 inch b.s on the rears so i could tuck 295s, the 4.5 inch b.s on the truck ralleys combined with the 275s fit just inside the lip on the fender. i figured the extra inch of back spacing would help and i still have a fair bit of room between the rim and the box side. as for the fronts in going with a 4 inch backspace and im not sure on rubber size for them, im hoping some of the guys on the site here will tell me what they are running and looks good.

the center caps on the truck ralleys are just stockers, but i did get some black vinyl cicles cut out and then some red bowties also cut out of vinyl at a sign place in town. i carefully stuck the red bowties on the black rounds and tryed to get them as centered as possible then cleaned the crap out of the center cap and stuck them, they have been on for about 4 summers now and have been washed a lot and nothing has started to peel yet.

Re: new wheels on the 67

67, I don't know what look you are after but the 245/60/15 is almost exact diameter of 295/50/15 at 26.6 inches. The section width is 9.8" on the 245 versus 12.2" on the 295. These are BFG numbers but most brands will be pretty close to these. Do you really want that 295 on the 8" rim?

Re: new wheels on the 67

Dang, this must be "I got my wheels" day. Second post I've read/replied to in minutes.

I put 15" hot rod trim rings on my wheels. I couldn't get the depth I thought would have looked good, so that is my choice. I like them, some don't. No biggee.

Re: new wheels on the 67

I'm kinda with Boog on the 295's on a 8" rim. They look great on 10's (IMO) But I think a 275/60-15 is as big as I would go on an 8. (again,... just my opinion.) On the front I wouldn't run anything wider than a 225/70-15 on a 7" rim. I just don't like the tread of the tire to be wider than the rim. Looks "squeezed" on the rim to me.

Re: new wheels on the 67

i think the 295s will look fine on an 8 inch rim, ive seen it lots on truck ralleys and like the look...i like big beefy sidewalls on the rears of these trucks...
