SteelBed/FuelDoor Suggestions?

I recently had the fuel tank relocated under the bed. I ordered a trap door from CPP, and although great quality. It's flat & I don't want to use it.

I was thinking of cutting a larger section from a donor steele bed, to fabricate one with same shape. Any other ideas? Suggestions appreciated!

Re: SteelBed/FuelDoor Suggestions?

I've seen an access panel created for reaching the in tank fuel pump in a Bronco to avoid dropping the tank. The guy used a portion of the bed from a scrapped vehicle to make the door. As he was accessing the panel only in the event of a fuel pump failure, he used caulking to seal the panel.

In your case, suggest using a slightly oversize bed piece so you can add a hinge and a device to secure it. The hinge assembly from any vehicle having a swing open fuel door should work. If you get one with a remote fuel door access, then you can run the cable to the cab interior.

Post pics of what you come up with.
