Found a 72 GMC Factory A/C and 402
I recently came across a 1972 GMC 1500 Super Custom in a little town about 20 miles north from where i live. Its orange and white with all the original trim. The guy I talked to said its been in the family since new. His grandpa owned it new and then his dad who is the current owner. Heres the good part. It is a factory 402 BB with about 30,000miles on the rebuild. Factory A/C, power steering/brakes, extra fuel tank all that. he was telling me why the extra tank was put in and it was because his dad drove it to Alaska many years back. It needs cab corners, rockers might be able to be saved but i would replace them, and one fender patch. Grille and front bumper also need replaced. Pumped it twice started right up drove great etc. Bed is very straight and cab mounts and floor are like new. Didnt know how much it was worth...I looked at a 69 C10 with the same options a year ago and could have bought it for 1100 with extra cab and clip but it wsa too rough. WOuldnt mind having this one though. Let me know what anyone thinks...Thanks!

I would be all over it. I wouldn't mind having 2 of these. The last year and you know its loaded with goodies like ac, pb ps.
I picked mine up in June LY, haven't finished mine but I know I want another. How much for the Orange and White?

Hard to say without a few pictures. It sounds like you've been looking for a while, and all I can say is get the best truck you can afford. Should easily fetch $2500 anyway, I'd guess.

Re: Found a 72 GMC Factory A/C and 402
Well it has been sitting out side of a liquor store since the beginning of December. The old man wanted $4500 for it when he first parked it and a guy came and offered 4 and he didnt take it. So i let it sit for awhile. And i revisited it again just today and he was like ill do 3200 and I looked at it again to refresh my memory and offered $2,000. I know that may seem low but id go up to 2500 max on it just because these long beds are sitting in every farmers pasture for 500 a piece. But since it has all these goodies, id do 2500.

I think $2500 is fair. I essentially have that truck. 72, 402, AC, PB, PS...my cab was already repaired and painted....bed was bad for $2500 and I thought I got a good deal. So I would aim for 2k and pay 2500.

Re: Found a 72 GMC Factory A/C and 402
The only thing i want to add is, if its been in the family that long, it may have some sentimental value to the seller. I'd becareful dropping a price that low and ticking him off. I've done that before (77 Trans am). The guy sold it to someone else for less than i offered just because he thought i insulted him a year before.Told me to shove it.
Some people are strange. Luckily i ended up buying that Trans am from the guy he sold it to, for what i offered in the first place. Still have it today.

Re: Found a 72 GMC Factory A/C and 402
Well i've been dealing with his son on it. and his son was telling me how his dad wanted $4500 at first an turned down 4. But his son and I are in agreeance that around these parts, it doesnt matter what it came from the factory with. Its still a 72 GMC Long bed with some rust issues. He was also saying he keeps trying to tell his dad that if he wants the 3200 hes asking then to clean it up and put it on Ebay. But his dad just put it in front of his sons liquor store so he didnt have to deal with it and get rid of it. Right now they are at 2800 and id pay 2500 for it so we will see how it goes. Only problem is i find out next week if i have to have a second shoulder operation so that could damper things for me

Re: Found a 72 GMC Factory A/C and 402
I hope you get it. Sounds like a pretty neat deal. I've had a bunch of shoulder surgeries and every time I crawl under my truck I pay the price of no sleep for 2 or 3 nights; but then again, I'm 53 years old. Good luck with the surgery and post pix when you get a chance.

Re: Found a 72 GMC Factory A/C and 402
Well its at 2800 and i could own it. But it couldnt have come at a worse time. Turns out the shoulder operation is going to consist of repairing my rotator cuff, lebrum, and bicep tendon. Leaving me out of work for about 6-8 months and unfortunately i cant afford to pay that much and not work for that long. What sucks is I went and got the money out of my account before i went to the doctor because he told me it wouldnt be very extensive..well he thought wrong haha SO i guess this is the one that got away...for now.

Re: Found a 72 GMC Factory A/C and 402
Well i noticed the truck was gone the other day so i went in and asked the guy about it. Turns out it was sold to a guy in town who has a few other c10s that he has gutted, lowered, and chopped the cabs on. The owner know of his plans so when he asked what he was wanting he said 3700. He took it. I saw him driving it the other night and asked him about his plans for it and he was telling me he was going to, starting next week, begin stripping it down and start lowering it and putting a 383 stroker in it. So we agreed to a deal that would involve me getting the 402, power steering set up, AC pretty much everything under the hood that he was tearing out. He wants to make it a drag truck so after sitting at a few intersections in town he told me for $500 i could take everything under the hood since hes just scrapping it. Im paying him $450 for all that equipment so i guess i have part of the "One that got away" haha
