15" Cragars-too old school for a 85?

Had these in polished on my old 65 chevelle and they looked awesome. Had a old school look but also a little modern. I really liked the wheel mostly because not everyone and their grandmother had them. you guys think they would look out of place on my 85 GMC SWB?

those aren't the old school cragars - the s/s is the old school. I understand why you asked and it's a good question. I think these would look good on your truck.

I'm familiar with the S/S cragars but since I've only seen these eliminator 500 wheels on 60's muscle cars I was just afraid they would lok out of place. I've seen the S/S mags on later 70's and 80's cars and trucks and they just look out of place. The eliminator 500 Cragars are one of my favorite wheels.

Guess my next question is 15x8's front and back or 15x7 front and 15x8 rear? Back spacious gs are 4.125" for the 15x7 and 4.5" for the 15x8. I plan to run 245/60/15 front and 275/60/15 rear.

I like the same size on all 4 corners so I can rotate them as needed.

I think those would look fantastic on your truck! If your going to be using smaller tires on the front anyways, I think I would use the smaller 15x7 rims as well. It would look better that way in my opinion.

That's the thing, I'm not going for a old school vibe. That's why I was asking if they were too old school for 85. I'd never put white was or red lines on anything this new.

Black wall only. Think I'm going to go with something else. I love the wheels but I don't want the truck looking out of place. It's already old school in the fact that I'm looking at 15" wheels.

Old Skool is where it's at, not into the big wheels, running 15" Rallys with RWL TA's

I'm with you on blackwall only. If you've decided against the Cragars, have you considered the 16-17" car rallies? Kinda like the ones that "Trucks!" tv show stuck on the green 66 swb conversion they built? Those have an older look but don't look "old school" because they are 16s or 17s (17s, I think). I know you were leaning toward 15s, and I do too, but I think these aftermarket rallies would look great on your truck - and, generally speaking, they fill out the wheelwell on a square better than a basic 15. Kinda subtle, modern, but with a slight nod to the past. Very slight.

Hey thanks for clearing that up. Never would have figured that one out if it wasnt for you. I bet your one of those guys who says "use the search button" when someone asks a tech question because you have nothing to offer the discussion.

Most people who replied seemed to get it but I`ll do you a favor and explain it for you. When I says "old school" I`m talking about things that should only stay on certain year trucks. Like the white wall or red line tire comment. Yeah they would look great with either tire if they were installed on something from the 50`s or 60`s. I wouldnt put old Halibrand wheels on something this new because they would look out of place. Like putting slot mags on anything older than 1979. Just looks out of place. The Cragar wheels have a old school 60`s look to them but also a modern twist to the style.

You are correct. I did ask for opinions. Tom`s reply was not a opinion of the wheel, but to point out that my truck is old school. Yes it`s a 30 year old truck, I understand that. I didnt need the obvious pointed out. I wanted to know if the wheels would look out of place. I didnt think it was a hard question. Someone made a comment about white walls or redline tires which would be completely out of place on a 1985 vehicle. I really thought people would understand my question but I see that isnt the case. I didnt want this to turn into a stupid internet argument like everyone seems to enjoy lately so Thanks for the replies guys but I`m moving on.

Really Tom? That's your post right there and I don't see where you said no, they aren't too old school. It took you 5 days to come up with "I've been here since 1999"? LOL, that's sad man. Instead of actually helping someone your big advice is "use the search function".

I`m sorry if any of my comments offend anyone. I just have certain tastes that change depending on the type, style, and year of the vehicle. Sometimes mixing them looks great but sometimes it doesnt.

Those are 6lug 6 spoke wheels so they won't fit but not a fan of the S/S wheels on newer cars and trucks. And I'm pretty set on 15" wheels unless I do some Boss 338's or something like that.

sorry. i missed that in my quickie search. point is they make 17" Cragars for a 5 hole square could not find SS in 5 on 5.0, though

Appreciate the input but not interested in a 17" wheel. I was pretty set on the wheels I wanted, just needed opinions on if they would look to "old" on a newer model truck.
