Yet another lowering/wheel/tire question
I am sure I will be going with 3/5 drop on my truck and was wondering if my 15x8 wheels with 255/70/15 tires will work without any issues? Also, I am going to use a 3" drop spring in the front, will I need to get some drop shocks?

From what I've read 255/70's on 15x8s should be fine on a 3/5 drop. You'll definetly need new shocks (front and rear).
If you're on a budget, search through the parts catalog at the parts house to find a set of shorter shocks that will work with the mounts you have. If you can find what you need, the replacement type shocks are usually less than $20 each. |

By chance do you know the length of the stock shocks and how much shorter to go?

I have no idea on the stock length, but I'd guess the new ones should be 3" shorter in the front and 5" shorter in the rear.
Maybe the best way to go about it would be to install the drop and measure the distance between the mounts, then add a few inches to get the compressed length and subtract a few for the compressed length. |

I have 255/70/15 tires on 8 inch rally wheels and a 2.5 inch spindle drop in the front. I don't have any clearance issues. With a spindle drop, you can use your stock shocks, which may help pay for the difference in cost. You will keep your full suspension travel, too.

I have run a 235/70/15 tire in the back of my truck with a 4" drop in the back and I also had 225/70/15 tires with a 3 1/2" drop in the front (Belltech 3" spindles and springs). The shocks that I use are the Belltech shortened shocks in the back and front. I have had no problems with my setup. I now run a different set of tires to get a lower profile (245/60/15 up front and 295/50/15 in the back) these are mounted no 15 X 8 rims.
