Rhino-line: Yes or No

I have scrambled this for some time now. I like the idea of putting a type of rhino-line, lizard skin, etc on the interior of my Jimmy simply as it is a tough lining that I wouldn't have to ever worry about. However, if I was a buyer I would be skeptical at best as what could be hiding behind this. Given, I have no interested in selling mine, and my truck is rock solid, but if it the time comes to it would you guys be driven away (like I was when searching) because it has rhino-hide or would it not really matter if the rest of the body and frame could prove the rest of it's solidity?

As a buyer I'd see this as a negative but my personal preference is for stock-ish builds. If it's solid after 40+ years and you're not planning on building a mud rig why line it?

For a very clean or show truck, I'd use rubber mats inside which are removable. For a daily use truck, a quality spray lining (Line-X) wouldn't deter me if a quick inspection of the bed floor from beneath revealed no secrets, and the truck was to see moderate road/load usage.

I think Rhino-line should stay in truck beds and not interiors and body.

I am assuming you only intend to line the floor and nothing else. Don't line the inside of the quarters or the kick panels or doors.

As others have said, if it is truly rock solid now, why the need to line it? A quality primer/sealer and paint job underneath rubber mats or carpeting should hold up well to everything but the harshest use.

With that said, if everything else on the blazer was correct, a lined floor wouldn't stop me from purchasing it.

I agree with the majority.... don't line it! Show off that solid interior! If you want to protect / sound deaden the floor by a quality full lenght floor mat.

I wouldn't buy a Blazer with liner on the floor because I would assume it was hiding something.

The liner would make me look harder for things that may be hidden, but wouldn't keep me from buying that truck, if everything else was ok.
I plan to line the interior of mine after I get the trust holes fixed.
If it was an all original unmolested truck I'd keep it stock, but I am going for a lower maintenance trail rig, with mine. My Jimmy has had so many mods already it will not affect it's desirability to the people that would be interested if I were to ever sell it.

If it is a good Blazer, rhino lining would detract from its value IMO.

When rebuilding my Blazer I needed to replace some metal. The original paint was shot and it wasnt going to be anything close stock with a late model motor swap and 1 ton axle upgrade among other things. Line-X was cheaper then a good paint job. My truck is covered inside and out with Line-X. Check out the build thread in my signature for more details.

I'd have to second this, even if you're only doing the floor, the Line-X is harder than the Rhino and can be color matched to your truck, so if you've got med blue, they can match it, better product IMO.

I know you said you're just going to leave it as it is, but I had rhino liner installed about 6 months ago and love it, it cleaned up the interior of my vehicle very well and helped a lot with sound deafening.

Mine has a really thin liner on the floor only. It isn't much thicker than paint so could be removed easily. Not sure what it is exactly but the prior owner said he did it himself with some roll on liner. I was weary but it's not nearly as thick as normal bed liner.

I started with a rust free California 2wd blazer. I had always planned to run mine with out the top. I was more concerned with future protection. Sanded my tub and floors to bare metal and applied two coats of POR 15 and then top coated it with POR 15's bed liner. It is applied with a gun and the texture is not too thick. Mine has carpet installed over it but I have the peace of mind knowing that the tub is well protected. Now I just have to keep the leather interior and carpet dry....... No rainy days for me.
