67 inline 6 harmonic balancer ?
On a inline 6 250ci, I was going to swap distributor to an HEI. The harmonic balancer doesnt have a bolt so I can turn the engine to #1 cylinder on TDC. It seems to be held by the key, and even the 3 holes for the puller arent threaded. I cant post pics thanks to a lost battery charger. Has anybody else encountered this problem ? Thanks for any help.

Take out #1 plug and hold your finger over the hole while someone bumps it over. When your finger gets blown off the hole you're on #1TDC.

Clean your timing marks first though and make sure that they are easy to see. I usually pull the distributor cap off and watch the rotor even if I am bringing the engine up on compression with my finger in the #1 spark plug hole. Don't be surprised if it takes several before you get it where you want it. If you have a remote starter button you can bump it over yourself. |

I just grab the belt and pull the motor over while watching the distributor rotor...

Re: 67 inline 6 harmonic balancer ?
This. The compression is so low I usually just press the belt against the water pump pulley and rotate.
