Ignition switch wiring help needed
Ok the PO had really screwed up the wiring harness under the dash. He had cut and spliced wires of different colors and gauges into it and I've almost got it all fixed. I've been using the wiring diagrams by boundstaffpress. Thanks Justin! Here's my problem. According to the WD the ign switch has a 20ga green wire that is supposed to be for the temp gauge that runs to the cluster connection. I have no green wire at the ign switch. The pic of the cluster connection is for idiot lights and there is a pic of a connection for gauges which I have but it doesn't show if the green wire goes to the switch or not. It is in a different spot on the cluster connection. FYI the PO also had an aftermarket temp gauge under the dash so I don't know if he cut that wire out or if it's never been there! I'm sorry if I made this more confusing then it need to be but I've been shooting wires all morning and AARRRRRRGGGGG! Any help would be great. TIA

Re: Ignition switch wiring help needed
The dark green wire goes to the temp sender on the engine to the guage cluster connector. That must be a misprint on the diagram. I dont remember the green going to the ign sw. Can you find the d/g wire on the engine? Im sure I will be corrected if im wrong.

Re: Starter problems
Hello All,
I'm new to the forum so please forgive me if i'm doing this wrong. I own a 1969 C-10 SB 350ci Auto. I've been driving it daily for 3 years and well a month ago it stopped cranking... turn the key and just the brake light ignites and a faint click. I replaced the battery with an optima... faint click. I replaced the the positive cable terminal .... faint click I replaced the OEM starter with a new Mini ... faint click I spliced in a new 12GA wire for large purple wire leading to the starter becasue it looked old and dry .... faint click I spliced in a new wire for the yellow insulated wire leading to the starter ... faint click I have an ACCEL HEI. I replaced the cap, the coil and put a new wire that leads to the firewall... faint click. Now i'm tempted to replace the entire wire harness and ign switch. Any suggestions? Whats the best way to see if the NEW starter is working? Thank you' Ted |

You need to start a new thread when you make a post that isn't a reply to the existing post. Starting a new thread in an existing thread is called "hijacking the thread" If that makes any sense..... At the top of the main page (above the announcements) click on "New Thread" and post your question there. Also use a different subject heading than this thread does. Hope this helps. LockDoc
