Bucket Seat Question

I have the opportunity to buy a set of 72 Blazer buckets...my question is will 69-70 foam fit these frames...are they the same frame is my question I guess. I know I will need passenger brackets to be correct for my truck just want to make sure the frames will accept the 69-70 seat foams before I commit to them.

Thanks, Rich

Re: Bucket Seat Question

To my knowledge the only difference is the Blazer bucket gets a back, but that might be the Suburban I'm thinking of (or both). But as far as I know, the rest of the seat frame is the same.

We have a few upholstery experts who should be along shortly though, I'm a little hazy on this one.

Re: Bucket Seat Question

My understanding is that the foam for 69/70 buckets is different from the 71/72 foam. It may be only the foam for the backs that differs. I have no idea if the 69/70 and 71/72 frames themselves are different. As Dave said above, the Blazer and truck buckets are the same except for the back on the Blazer buckets and the passenger side mounting brackets.

Here's a link to a previous thread that may help.

Re: Bucket Seat Question

I think the foams are the same size, but the frames will not fit in the cab of your pick up. The mounts are longer.
I used Blazer buckets in my truck but had to use slider sets from two bench seats, and fab brackets for them to fit

Re: Bucket Seat Question

The driver's side is exactly the same as a pickup bucket as far as the frame and brackets is concerned. Passenger side only difference is the flip forward bracket.
If you have a bench seat from the factory it is a little work to put factory buckets in, the holes are not there already. There are plenty of threads on how to get the job done.

Re: Bucket Seat Question

Thanks. I'm aware the passenger bracket is different and I'll need to fetch one. My question was the frames.........

Thanks Firstowner69, that was my understanding also.....just need to know if the frames are interchangeable.....

Re: Bucket Seat Question

Here's at least one thread that says they are the same. See SS Tim's post #3.
