what are some things you all use for cleaning and shinning chrome and alum. grilles,wheels, ex. maybe some hints on small polishing tools thanks bill

When I was in the Navy they used to make a Powdered drink that they kept in a cooler on the messdeck, we called it "BugJuice". That stuff could clean Chrome, Brass, Aluminum you name it!! And it didnt taste too bad either!!

Actually i was interested in the same thing for my grill, but just decided to get a new one. I was looking into this stuff though....
Not sure how good it is.

We use Turtle wax chrome cleaner for hand polishing aluminum and chrome. If it is bad, we use 00 steel wool with the polish.

For stainless, depending on condition, we wet sand with 240, 400, 600 grit and then buff on a buffing wheel using Eastwoods
stick for chrome.

It takes a lot of time and requires some practice but the results are usually very good.

Ya may not believe this but a bottle of coke with a ball of aluminum foil to scrub with will clean and polish chrome better than anything else ( beats naval jelly, chrome polishes etc.... )when it comes to aluminum though I also prefer Mother aluminum polish.

I have used a lot of brands of polish/cleaner for polished aluminum wheels and there is nothing better than California Customs......... My wheels are 8 years old and they look better than most new polished wheels.

I use Mothers Chrome Polish and one of those little green & yellow scrubby sponges. I use the rough side if I need to scrub a lot of gunk off, but just the softer side and buff. Then wipe away with a pair of old shorts

GMC Paul is right....they tested that on Myth Busters a few weeks ago...cleaned up a rusty bumper better than chrome cleaner! I still have yet to tryit myself.

For removing surface rust on chrome, i have personally have good luck with SOS pads.....removes the rust and cleanes up the wheel with the soap.

Is there any way to get out the little scratches on grills, t.light bezels etc. MY grill polishes up pretty well, but I still have the scratches
