passenger side gas tank removal

has any removed the passenger side gas tank but left the driver side tank installed and functional? i don't believe my passenger side unit works any more so i was just gonna take it out and maybe mount my batteries or air tanks there. so if any one has done it that would be great if you have some advice.

Re: passenger side gas tank removal

Just remove the diverter valve and all wiring. Run the lines that go from the engine bay to the diverter straight to the tank. That's what I did in my '79 shortie. I left the switch in place on the dash so there wouldn't be a hole, then used it to fire up my KC Daylighters.

You'll have to pull the bed. It's on the driver's side, half under the cab, half under the bed.

Re: passenger side gas tank removal

you can remove the valve with out removing the bed if you are not able to get help to lift personally its less work to crawl under there and remove it it has two bolts that bolt through the frame and it has a metal panel that covers it to keep it protected it is really easy to remove just dont under estimate your capabilties.
