BBC/w308 rear gear??
I've ran 373 ratio's with my BB truck and I was just wondering if 308 would be OK with a stock 402/400 swb truck? thanks in advance!

With a BBC i think it would be fine. The BB should have enough torque to turn over the 3.08's OK and crusie down the interstate w/o turning the motor too fast.

Well well not much input other than yellow72custom which I think you for. But anyway I just drove the 72swb down to the Truck Shack and man ole man that 308 is the way to go on cruising around and with that BB the power is there when you need it.lol
thanks Big O.

Have a 72 LWB with a new BB (402 punched out to 409). I have the 3:08 gears. I did that intentionally as I wanted to keep the rev's down on the freeway. Truck was originally a 350/350/3:73. I swapped the 3:08's in prior to the new motor and had some issues with mild inclines. The tranny would keep shifting between 2nd and 3rd gear. Pulled one of those hills yesterday and noticed that I just cruised right on up with no gear change at all. I also have all the low end punch I will ever need for street cruising. I would definitely give a "thumbs up" on this combination. Will extend the life of the motor I would think. Good luck.

I have 3.08's with my 502...I like it quite abit for highway and I definitely don't have any problems from a torque perspective.
I wish though that I had gone with an OD tranny...I still would like to drop my R's on the highway by 500 or so....and you can always downshift.
