More foot room!

Well I have been complaining about the leg room in my 70 Low Buck truck so I finaly did somthing about it! First I got rid of the stock pillow back seat in favor of a 60/40 split bench out of a 93 1500. This gave about 2" more room as well as flip forward back and shoulder belts with a few more mods. See pics here http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=269662

For the gas pedal I just bent the rod a bit. I had about 1" when I was at WOT so I bent it to give me about 7/8" of that extra room. Then for the brake pedal I had about 4" of room so I took 2" of that. I do not recomend cutting and welding the brake pedal uness you know just what you are doing. I will add pics but not info because it should be left to a certified welder that has experance in pedal fabrication. This is not a mod you want to fail while you are driving!!

Paint is drying right now so I will post a finished installed pic in a few minutes once it is all back in place.

Tall people + c10 = Cramped. I have a seat out of a ford F150 lariat, and wow it drasticly improved legroom. Its also not conected to the floor at the moment so i might put it as far back as i can. (truck is not on the road.yet.)

Set the sliders al the way forward and the seat as far back as it will go. This way it will slide way forward for getting to the space behind the seat!

We went for a ride today and it was night and day different. Best part is my wife could not stop telling me how much she likes it She just might get the 63 if she keeps this up Tonight she want to take it to here X-mas party instead of her 07 SS Trailblazer

Re: More foot room!

right on man! yah... that space behinde the seat is occupied by a the origional fuel tank. do you still have your fuel tank behinde the seat or did u replace it? If you still have it how much room is between the seat and the gas tank anyway? thw way you ahve it set up?

No my tank is long gone! The new seat takes the space of the fuel tank I think. Well we went to the wife's company party about 70 miles round trip and it was so nice having the extra room and the 93 60/40 spllit seat made so much differance I can not belive. The truck road ok but not great with the stock style seat but this new one makes it feel like a new truck

Re: More foot room!

Ol Rover, I have the same seat in mine. I had to grind down the latches for the seat back so they wouldnt damage the tank. it works great and the fold down arm rest has a perfect spot for my thermos (coffee)

Nice job Kevin. It would be nice to be able to buy these shortened pedal arms.

Sounds like a decent business venture. Snag a few extra brake pedals & sell them on an exchange basis requiring a core deposit.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

What would you charge for something like that.... seriously?

The gas pedal is fine, but I can't stand lifting my leg to use the brake, especially in greenville traffic. I like rotating my foot over, not lifting it.

.
It would be about $60 plus shipping (returned in the box you send it in) and about a 3-5 day turn around for now.

Kevin,

I know this is an old thread but I am very interested in one of these brake pedals.

My long legs would be very grateful!!
