My cluster by byrd, a must see!

Here are a few pictures of my cluster I sent off to Randy (byrd) to get the white overlays on. Randy went way behond my expitations and this is what I got back in return. You talk about show quality workmanship, this is it. Does not look anything like my cluster I sent him. Randy is really the best in my books and a super nice guy to boot. He did such a beautiful job and I am so proud of the way the cluster turned out. Thanks Randy for such a great job and making my cluster a show piece. If any of you are thinking of having this done, byrd is the man to do the best job. I am so happy with mine that I could just go on and on.

Really sorry about the krue. I was reading another post and your name just stuck in my head. Byrd did the clusters not krue. But I am sure you would have done a good job too. I was just so excited about the cluster that I had a brain lapst. (sp) It is legal, I am old.

Very nice! Does anyone carry new bezels in the original colors? I think black is the only one I've seen.

Re: My cluster by byrd, a must see!

I will take pictures after I get back into the Burb and Randy did put the blue bulbs in so will also take night time pictures. M2TRUX, you will have to PM Randy because I had him do some extra things and do not really remember how much the total was. Byrd would be happy to let you know if you let him know what all you want. He does a great job. I can not brag on him enought. You would not be sorry doing this and I do know he is very reasonable.

That looks great. I have to ask..are the empty, full, and oil pressure letters not centered, or is it just the pic? I am assuming a repop lens was used and wonder if everything lines up OK. Very nice work.

Re: My cluster by byrd, a must see!

Thank you for the kind words, 86swb (John), and thanks to all who gave kudos The white dashes look so cool even better with blue LED bulbs to make them really neat. I appreciate you being patient and understanding with the time frame

To be honest yes maybe a little, but remember this is an aftermarket lens and we all know that no aftermarket products are a perfect fit
It is somewhat of an optical illusion with the reflection on the fuel gauge part from the amazing chrome on the MADE IN USA black and chrome bezel, it is by far the best fitting, the best looking and the absolute best chrome of any aftermarket bezel.

Thanks again John and I'm very pleased that you are happy with it
Sorry I haden't replied to your email and pm I have been at work since 4am and just got home at 9:30 pm and have to be back at 6 am 86 miles from the house (Toyota plant) so I'm going to bed very soon Randy

Boy Randy you are putting in some killer hours. I have a son-in-law that works at the Toyota plant in Lexington. Get some rest.

Re: My cluster by byrd, a must see!

That does look good. I just wish that the overlay guys could make a black overlay outline for all the numbers and letters, that would make it look soooo much better. That is the single reason i didn't paint the metal white on mine. They used to give you black numbers to put directly on the plastic, which looked great, but you couldn't read them at night.
Here's how it looks with the black instead of white metal inner piece.
And an attempted shot of mine with the blue lights. Not a very good attempt I might add.

Re: My cluster by byrd, a must see!

For those who are using blue LED lights, do they light up nice at night? Are the guages easier to read or the same as with stock lighting? Thanks.

Re: My cluster by byrd, a must see!

Lamar has made up some black letters and Durange is working on it, just haven't perfected it yet. That is why I use that particular lens, it has been made using a more irredescent paint than original and actually makes them glow at night. The blue LED bulbs are about 10 times as bright as the stock bulbs, plus they look really cool too!! I haven't been able to get the pics of the dash at night to turn out,but I just got a 12 volt transformer from work and I"m going to set me up something to make it possible to see what the bulbs do for the cluster.
Longhorn, is that pic with led's or with blue 194's? It doesn't look bright enough to be led , the ones I use has four leds per bulb and make the dash light up bright and really stand out.

1) no

2) I sell them as well as durange, but I'm alittle cheaper, mainly
because they sell in groups of 6 when you only need four to do the
backlighting of the dash

3)$5 each plus s/h

Randy, I did not know you sold these. I am going to need one to replace one that is not good in my '86. I thought about sending it back but by the time I pay to send it back and all it would also take longer. How much to ship just one to me? I will pay with pay pal. John
