Hydroboost on a 71?
I have a complete hydroboost from a 83 diesel suburban and want to put in on my 71. I went out to do it today but the 71 has linkage from the pedal rod to the power booster. My hydroboost goes strait to the booster with no linkage. How should i go about swapping this? Sorry it sounds dumb, but i want to do it right with no suprises later

Re: Hydroboost on a 71?
come on now. Someone has either swapped or tried to swap a 73-87 type booster on our earlier trucks!

Re: Hydroboost on a 71?
I think the idea would be to swap out the whole pedel bracket assembly.
I had a hydroboost on a 77 4x Crewcab and loved it. The pedel feel is well worth the effort. |

Re: Hydroboost on a 71?
Dang, i dont have the pedal or bracket. Just the P/S pump, lines, and hydroboost unit. My 496 isnt going to provide much vacuum so i really need to install this.

Re: Hydroboost on a 71?
I ve swapped three trucks over to hydroboost. With a bit of matching with the bracket it bolts right up. You need to cut the rod on the hydroboost then cut the truck end of the rod of the original set up and weld it to the hydroboost. Drill another hole in the brake pedel arm lower down than the original hole. I can get you some pics and measurements next week.
