Well, mine are kinda cheap and I love them. I'm trying to figure how to replace other lights with LEDs.
The electronic flasher would be easy, just go to NAPA and ask for a 2 plrong electronic flasher.

I would get them. They are no longer made by hand. The problems people were having were related to the connections.

I got mine from Reumster (early model) had some problems, but he made good on them. The newer ones are great and I would do it again. They are really bright and really red.

What does a set of the newer style "mass produced" ones cost anyway? Just curious.

what...LED's

are these for the 1157's or what. i have not seen these but would like to. I love LED's. I will be putting them under the bed rails in my blazer for hidden and bright interior lighting.

In my stratus I have blue ones in my headlight to light up the housing a soft but erie blue and just did this to the third brake light.

mmgoodie,

I think someone is trying to get out of your trunk!

I've seen these LED plug in replacement cluster bulbs in the Stylin Concepts catalogue and the local Pep Boys, think they run about $12-16 buck each.

Saw some yesterday on a 65 SWB, and they were BRIGHT!

The ECE kit looks pretty good, I might have to add that to my list of upgrades for this winter. Maybe even clear lenses all around... Hmmm...???

Don't get APC bulbs....they're JUNK!

Try www.ledtronics.com, for some genuinely GOOD LED bulbs to replace 1157's. BUT, you are gonna have to get off of your wallet to do so, to the tune of $48 per bulb. I have them in my '69, and I tried the APC bulbs in the park/turn, but they wouldn't go in but one of the sockets. The rears are great!

So, consider $48 each bulb at www.ledtronics.com, vs. ECE for more LED's and engineered to fit our housings.

Food for thought.

I used to sell them for $120, but not sure if I can get more now that ECE tied up the market with their exclusive deal. If you are not careful, the panels will break when you install them...found out the hardway...but I am sure ECE explains that and how to prevent that. I sure hope so.
They are slick...168 individual leds and they light up the entire lens, not just the old bulb area on top.

lemme settle a few things, again.

Howdy,
First off, Frank @ Franks Pickem-up parts:
Are you still getting the led boards from Dave @ ECE? If not I
need to know about it so I can rectify the situation. Yes they
can break if you tighten them bown too tight. In order to
fix that we have added some hardware to make your lens break
befor the LED board does. He is supposed to be selling them to
you @ wholesale. If this isn't the case I need to know ASAP!!
As far as the electronic flasher. You don't necessarily need them
with just the rear taillights. It's when we come out with the front
turn signals and you have them both installed is when they
are going to be necessary.
As far as the exclusive deal with dave @ early classic, it's so
exclusive I cannot sell my own lights to anyone other
than Dave. But it has been good for us, they have been on the
TV show TRUCKS! four times now. Hard to complain about that.
I am no longer in business with Ryan Reum. I have decided to
move on and do other things, but the warranties are all valid.

Her's something else. The first 100 sets we sold that were on the
Green circuit boards were built by hand. Either I or another
professional assembler assembled the leds and othre parts, and
soldered them to the board. The newer ones were soldered by a machine that actually
heats up the board a few hundred degrees.
With the board that hot, the solder joints are much less brittle.
If you have a set that doesn't work right or has some LEDs out,
please let me know ASAP so I can take care of it.
I don't remember what Dave @ ECE is selling them for off the top
of my head, but I am not making a killing. IN all honesty, taking
into development costs, I am still somewhat in the hole. We made
a whole series of 67-68 front turn signals that we are still trying
to get working right. The third brake light Dave has is expensive
because of the dual white cargo light LEDs. I think we have to
pay over 20x the price for the white LEDs as we do the red ones.
I am also going to be getting started on more frint turn signals
as well as a circuit that you could plug into your Dome light
to have it fade out, after you shut the truck off, and shut the door
like so many of the newer vehicles use.
I think they are worth it, but I am biased. They do make more of
a difference that anything else out there. Plus they are
warrantied for as long as you own your truck.

Thanks to: Curbstone Mech, and useRc10 for your support.

Still selling them!

I had a big run on these after this post and just got resupplied, no problem. I did not see any changes, but may have to look closer. I still add a printed set of instructions/installation tips with the ones I sell.
Price is still $120 + $10 shipping.

jmac05, are you saying Reumster is out of the LED business and you have the company solely?. I stopped trying to contact him after several attempts because he didn't live up to HIS end of a deal we made almost a year ago. Good luck with your company!

Frank,
Just let me know if you ever have any trouble. Randy @ D2M was
adamant about letting you have the deal you have when we first
negotiated with ECE. Any future deals involved with anyone
concerned with these classic Chevy models will have you getting
the same wholesale as anyone else.
70c10,
Uhhh, yes and no.
I don't know what was up with Ryan (Reumster). I am supposed
to be his business partner but getting ahold of him was like
grabbin' a greased snake in a mud pit during a Tsunami. He'd call
me or email me when he needed some tail lights or wanted me to
fix them for someone. He didn't have his own phone line. I
actually laid out the boards with a CAD tool, and helped get them
sold by calling prospective customers who could sell them (we
are doing mustangs with National Parts Depot). I got called by Dave @ ECE
if he had problems or issues. Towards the end, I called to talk to
Ryan every night for 12 days straight. I never was able to get
a hold of him, eventhough I spoke to someone everytime and
told them to please leave a note that his business partner called
and I need to hear from him ASAP!!.
Finally he called me late on a saturday night on a cell phone that
crapped out 5 seconds after he said "What's happenin'?" He
hasn't called me since. That was five weeks ago, I think.
I decided I have other things that are more important in my life
right now than having to deal with this. So, I ended my business
relationship with him, as of Dec.31, 2003.
Ryan has all the files to make all the Chevy lights we did, if he can
afford it. Otherwise my interest has been "sold" to D2M. They will
be handling this business, just as they have been. If it turns out I
want to get back into it, I may. If you have bought from me, or
even ryan, and you have problems, you can still contact me for
resolutions. If you bought them through ECE, Frank's, or even D2M,
They will handle it. You can however, email me questions/comments
or if you have a problem, and I will see if I can help you through it,
before you have to send them in. It may be something simple.
With electronics, you never know...
70c10 , what ever problems you are having let me know
and I will take care of it. I have also found out the hard way Ryan
doesn't always live up to his end of the deal. It's just
I have a deal on the Table from D2M to actually start a new
company that I am the sole employee.
I'd be president, V.P. of anything I could think of, my own
secretary... I would basically do what I
did previously, but I'd have more support from D2M. I am
considering it. D2M thinks this could be a great year for this, so
we'll see. If I do, I'll let y'all know.

Did anyone ever figure out LED's for the stepside lights? Us stepside guys are being left in the dark (pun intended). J/K I tried to use the bulbs at the auto store, but the angle of the bulb (down)makes it impossible to see the light at all!! Have y'all expiremented with the tractor trailer LEDs on the trailers? Please keep us stepsides in mind!!! And good luck with the front parking lights and sidemarker lights. If I could get them all for my stepside as a package deal I probably would!!!

jorgensensc ,
I have an original stepside tail light, the large round one.
I guess i haven't done it yet because there really hasn't been a
demand for one. I suppose I could finish the design, but unless
I build a couple hundred at a time, they are going to be much
more expensive than what they need to be.
as far as side markers, your best bet is something like the Jam Strait
replacements that local auto parts stores may have. It isn't
practical for us to do them.
