Anybody know where I can find some sport style mirrors that aren't chrome? I would like to get them powder coat black and PC won't stick to chrome.

Re: Painting mirrors? Door handles
I sandblast chrome and stainless, then paint or powder coat with no issues. Just gotta rough it up. The most durable powder coat I have ever experienced is sandblasted aluminum powder coated. I think painted sport mirrors will look like crap. It's just the kind of mirror that is supposed to be chrome. Europeans started the monochromatic paint schemes and the whole less chrome look that American stuff fell in line with. I don't now who started calling these sport mirrors, but I consider the rallye style mirrors that they started putting on cars of this era to be sport mirrors and those belong painted body color.

Re: Painting mirrors? Door handles
I'm not doing body color, the truck is white and the grill and bumpers and wheels are black, just want the mirrors and the door handles to match.

Re: Painting mirrors? Door handles
I wondered if you wanted monochromatic or a color like white or black. But still, not sure how good that will work. They are both chrome now and match, right? I'm not sure if you'll be able to adjust your mirrors if they're powder coated

Re: Painting mirrors? Door handles
Did you ever paint your mirrors? I'm thinking of doing something similar and would like to see some pictures of other painted 71-72 sports mirrors.
