Open Header cruise and secret weapon
Heres some videos of my truck heading to the muffler shop with open headers.
Too bad when we got there, the guy said he didnt have time to install the exhaust system!! damn Ok dude, thats why I called you to make sure you had time! And the other page is the homemade mufflers I made. They are pretty damn huge 24x10x5. Deisgned by me and welded by me and a friend. Was a fun project. He had already made some for his car, so we made some for my truck as well. Now gotta wait until monday to get the exhaust done... So close to being done. http://web.mac.com/jason_hall/iWeb/Truck/Mufflers.html http://web.mac.com/jason_hall/iWeb/T...enheaders.html http://web.mac.com/jason_hall/iWeb/T...aders%202.html Enjoy! Jason

Re: Open Header cruise and secret weapon
You have me curious about how those mufflers sound, definately put up some sound clips when you get them done.

Re: Open Header cruise and secret weapon
Yep Andy, been in there for about 5 years now. First Cad motor I got for free, but didnt change the timing chain. Nylon came off and clogged the pickup, starved it for oil. Had this motor built up 3 years ago. Was my daily driver for 2 of those years, now its a weekend cruiser. Having gas at $3.65 limits the amount I REALLY want to drive it.
Still a little pissed at the muffler shop guy. That wasnt my first choice in shops anyways. Guess I wasnt meant to give him my business anyways. J

Re: Open Header cruise and secret weapon
headers were doug thorly tri-ys. (click on the "header" link on the page below to see them.)
cut off the flanges and adpated them to fit the cadillac engine. Drivers side is a little low and pointed down, but thats the way it fit. Pictures of the install here. http://web.mac.com/jason_hall/iWeb/Truck/Mufflers.html sounds great!!! Video will be up tomorrow. Jason

Re: Open Header cruise and secret weapon
Forgot to post this earlier.
My friend made a pair for his Nova for a class project. So we had alittle experience to go off. Decided to make them pretty big, since there is alot of room under the truck. Just layed out the plan on graph paper and played around with different shapes and sizes. the original plan didnt have the big V in the center. Those were going to be a Z shape, but after realizing that we didnt have a way to bend them, we just welded them together to make a V. Picture shows rough layout. Inlet is on the right. The first piece was just rough bent, so it has a rounded edge that the exhaust hits first. NONE of the pieces go all the way to the edge, just to make sure that there werent any rattles. The open V aims directly at the outlet. Didnt really model it after anything, just graph paper, two guys, steel, welder, and plenty of adult beverages.
