Fuel gauge/sending issue
Fuel gauge has started bouncing around. I have a new LMC rear tank with sender installed about 1 year ago. The fuel gauge was replaced a few years back. The tank is about 1/4 full. It pegged to the right for a few minutes on the way home today but bounced back to 1/4 when I got into the shop. Should I be looking at my ground, sending unit or is the gauge going out again? Any suggestions appreciated.

Look for anywhere the sending unit wire might be grounding out. The gauge goes to ground through the sending unit - that's where the resistor is. If it's bouncing to full, it's likely finding ground somewhere before it gets to the sending unit.

Check the wire from sending unit to fuse panel (light brown). Most likely it is corroded as it passes beneath the sill plate. Also make sure the connection is tight at the sender. With the key in the "on" position, try to wiggle the wire and see if the gas gauge needle moves.

I'm having a problem with mine also. I replaced mine a couple of years ago with an LMC tank. It has been working fine until about a month ago. The tank is half full but my guage shows empty. Could it be the sending unit or something else. Any help of what to look for would be greatly appericated. Thanks Ron

I just found the pins on the back of the cluster connector needed to be bent out a little to make a good connection, the other possibility could be a small break in the copper trace of your Printed circuit board, making intermittent contact. Hope this helps!
