wiring question

Im getting ready to rewire my engine they are just laying in the engine compartment. There is one yellow wire that goes to the starter and I have two yellow wires in there. Also im converting to internal regulating alt. is it easier to just get the 13.00 conversion or can you make it work. I wish I could find a wiring diagram of this. thanks Brian

You could go with the $13 conversion, but it might be better if you install that $13 in an envelope alonh with another $47 and send it to slammed67 since you still owe him that money.

Re: Re: wiring question

For the starter issue there should be a red and a yellow to the same side of your starter. The red goes up to the + side of the coil straight from the starter. The yellow one is actually one side of a parallel circuit that ties into the original wiring harness above the center of the firewall to a white wire (covered in fabric) that runs to your ignition switch system. The other side of this parallel circuit is also yellow, of the same guage, and runs to the + side of the coil along with the red (or it's supposed to). Therefore from a distance it looks as though the yellow wire is redundant, since it looks as though it runs the same path as the red one, but if you open the wiring harness above the firewall you'd discover it isn't.

Before the coil has induction for the distributor when the truck is running there needs to be power to the coil - hence the second yellow wire. When initially starting your truck the starter and the coil both need power. Once the truck is running only the coil needs it.

I found this out the hard way when the yellow wire that was supposed to connect to my starter from the coil was dangling loose, and was shorting out the circuit by grounding to the transmission flange. My truck would periodically miss out so bad it would quit every once in a while. When I unwrapped the wiring harness I figured it out.

Good luck.

Maybe if everyone stops giving him advise and helping him with his petty problems, he'll realize how valuable this forum is and pay me the money he STOLE from me.

Just a thought.

Well, I still think this back-and-forth stuff on the board is a bit ridiculous, but to be honest I didn't equate him with the guy you were talking about until now. Needless to say I think it's up to you to get this worked out, and it needs to stop plaguing the board. If you and the admins come to an agreement with this guy, or you figure out a way to get your $$ back that's great, but I'm not going to start keeping a list of board members I refuse to help because of various disagreements I'm not involved in. It's a bit out of my realm to think that way in the first place.

While i also am in the dark about this disagreement, i believe that a member who cons or steals money from another member has no right to come back to the board and get free advice. However, there are two sides to every story. Thats my $.02, and now i will just stay out of this one......

I think the "pay up or else, dude" tactic isn't working, hasn't worked for a year, and probably won't work. Unless Slammed67 either takes legal action, or contacts someone with some authority over this kid he's not getting his money back, which is a meager $60 to begin with over a YEAR's time.

I've been ripped off a couple of times from people on or off this board, and I ultimately chalked it up as my gamble and loss - let the buyer beware. I don't see any point getting in arguments on the board. Telling people not to buy from them in the future is a smart idea, but getting all unhinged over a transaction that should have been more thought out is another thing.

Now banning him, that's another story, but again that has nothing to do with me either...

I don't see him banned yet. Why is that?
