78 heavy half for sale on c/l

I know some of you are looking for a good project, I think this might be of interest to some, not mine just seen this on craigslist here in phoenix. It appears to have the original paint with the heavy half sticker. Here's the info on it.

Short bed, Heavy half ton, 350 engine 4barrel carb, 350 turbo trans, Tilt steering column, 12 bolt rear end has 3.73 gears, Nice aluminum wheels with 31 inch tires, new parts include U-joints/carrier bearing/front and rear brakes and front wheel bearings have been repacked with grease. A good running truck that is far from perfect but has lots of potential!

Big 10's and Heavy Halfs are sweet, no emissions or catalytic converter.

What's a "Heavy Half" or a "Big 10" and why aren't they subject to emissions or cats?

Thanks,
Ed

Is that the case in Phoenix too? I've got an '84 that has never been through emissions in its lifetime, and also still has the sticker on he inner fenderwell which lists a bunch of heavy duty parts.

Only for 78. If you have an 84 that has never been through emissions and the cats are gone along with the other emission such as a pump, and other such things, you might get dinked by the epa. Call the emission line for Az ADEQ, Arizona departmetn of environmental quality and they'll tell you what you need to have by your vin number.

Re: 78 heavy half for sale on c/l

i robbed a 454 and turbo 400 from a 77 heavy half, the tranny has a bolt on tail shaft. anyone know anything about these trannys??.... i was told they are pretty strong, is that true?? i grenaded the 454 but decided to keep the th400( mainly because i spent like $400 for a custom driveshaft)
