CRAZY spid lable

I bought this at an auction today. (just the g-box door, not the whole truck). Looks like it was an air force truck at one time. I also scored 8- 15"x8" stock steel truck rims. Got to see lots of parts, but didn't bring much home. Anyhow, enjoy the spid lable. Eric

CG, yes the are 6 lug. I am not sure how to read the codes on them, but JJ 15x8 is stamped on them. Sounds like you need to make a road trip...

That`s not crazy. That`s decalmania!!!Wow,the factory would do your signage for you back then.I`ve seen some wild options listed on municiple, govt, and fire/rescue trucks.GM was very accomodating back in those days.

Re: CRAZY spid lable

According to the VIN, the truck was a '68 4x4 1/2 ton truck with a cab and bed that was built in the Flint plant.

I'm confused that there is no letter behind K which usually denotes engine...

E-V8 and S= six cylinder It looks like an 8, maybe GM started using 6 and 8 do denote which engine type?

My truck VIN starts out CS147S

The model number indicates it's a 6 cylinder.

OK...this is EXACTLY what I have been waiting for a COPO SPID! Since all of these fleet vehicles were Central Office Production Orders the only difference in the SPID is the strange RPO numbers and descriptions!

Thanks for sharing that!

Re: CRAZY spid lable

I have had a couple of long conversations on the phone with several people about SPID labels, I think they are really pretty interesting. Some people collect stamps, we collect SPID labels. My wife heard me talking to someone on the phone one evening, she just shook her head called me a nerd and walked away. This could be a new club!

Man, you guys save waaaaayyy too much stuff.
I save only the pictures that I know I will look at again.
Otherwise, I'll just have to dig for it, or tell someone to look for it themselves.

I have Interior, Exterior, and Underhood folders.

Has that thread been discussed? (EDIT) Ahhh - yup.
