New member with my 72

Guys, I've been reading the site for a while and finally decided to put some pics of my 72. Got it back in 95-96, it was an old farm truck but fairly well taken care of. Put in a new interior and stereo system, rebuilt the 350 (performer cam, intake, carb, hei and hooker headers). Threw on some wheels and dual exhaust. Drove it for 3 years while finishing high school, then my 2 younger brothers drove for 3 or 4 yrs a piece. Just got it back about 6mts ago and boy she really needs some work now. Got dents in the front driver fender and rear bedside from my brothers friends hitting it with a golf cart and one backed into it with a van. Its got bit of rust under the drivers door and some light surface rust everywhere else. Well anyway here it is, I want to drop it about 3/5 but need some opinions, also new wheels, thinking bout following the herd and going with torque thrusts. How low should I go to still use it as a truck?

Heres a pic of a buddys burb project that will obviously never get finished. He stripped it completely now its been sittin for a few years.

Welcome from Southeast Missouri.

Sure looks like it is a good starting point for whatever you want to do with it.

Re: New member with my 72

Welcome from NC! Nice LWB! I would drop it 3/5 because it is a LWB, any lower and it wont be drivable. You could bag it, it would only cost about 1500$ with a small bolt in c notch, and you can inflate and it will be drivable, deflate and it would be showable. Just my .02

Also I think you should get some 18x8F 20x10R Wheel Vintiques. Another of my .02

Re: New member with my 72

umm, it depends what kind of stuff you will be using it for, if you will be hauling a truck load of gravel or firewood on ocassion, i wouldnt lower it too much or not at all, maybe 2/4 drop, but you are using it for light duty stuff, i would say you could lower it more, maybe 4/6 ?, now i have not lowered these trucks so i am not too sure about ride quality and such, hopefully some guys who have lowered their trucks will chime in.

Nice 72. Don't go too low or you will regret it. I don't think I have ever seen a '67 Burb... A few of 69-72's... Make your buddy an offer on the 'Burb ('67?) and get some paint on it and get it out of the weather while it is still salvageable!!!

Re: New member with my 72

That sure does look like my truck, in better shape than mine tho. I've been thinking about rhino lining the bed, do they go right over the top of whats there or sand it down first?

I don't haul much other than my boys PW50 and miscellaneous junk every once in a while. Thinking I may just want to get 2 inch drop spindles and new springs and 3 or 4 inch drop springs for the back. I want to make sure that the back isn't lower than the front with an empty bed.

I'm sure I could pick up the suburban cheap, problem is that he stripped damn near everything and I'm not sure where the parts are. Would have to buy nearly every part on it to get it going again. I would love to have an old suburban with modern running gear in it tho.
