Dear God what have I done? '69 Cutlass make-over

Hi guys. I guess since I don't have an old truck yet this might not be considered an alternate tinkering, but here it is anyway. This is my 1969 Olds Cutlass make-over. The process has already started. I will include some before and some current pictures.

Cool car and nice work! I have my Dad's old 68 GS400 and I'm hoping to get it drivable before spring next year. Good luck with yours!

WOW! Talk about resurrecting this thread! Sorry for the long wait in between posts, but the car is finally nearing completion. It should be going in this weekend to get painted. WOOHOO! Then comes the fun stage of reassembly. Hopefully I'll have some full color shots for you all to enjoy very soon.

Talking Re: Dear God what have I done? '69 Cutlass make-over

Thanks guys. I was starting to think no one knew this thread existed. It is going back the same color it is called Topaz poly with a new brown top. As far as engine it still has the numbers matching Olds 350 in it. I had the motor rebuilt shortly after buying the car. It had an oil ring froze to the #7 piston plus with 140,000 miles on it it deserved a refreshening. It has been bored .030 over crank turned .010 under mild cam three angle valve job hardened seats. Transmission got refreshed at the same time with a mild shift kit. It is a turbo 350. This car had A/C (parts missing), bucket seats, floor shift and console all from the factory. I had thoughts of turning it into a 442 clone, but decided against it. Didn't want everyone asking if it was a real 442. The interior is going to remain factory original for now (out of money) it is passable, but is probably going to look like crap with the new paint. It really isn't that bad just could use freshened up after 42 years.

I like the old Cutlass's. My Lil cuz has a pretty clean 71" that he's working on. Just did all new suspension with 4wheel disc brakes and Intro 22/24 inch wheels. Can't post pics from my phone

Yeah! You know us, we need to be visually entertained.

Love the work on the Cutlass, the 68-72 A-bodies are probably my favorite car series of all time.

Re: Dear God what have I done? '69 Cutlass make-over

Nice ride. When I was a kid. My parents had a black 69 Cutlass. I have more then a few fond memories riding around in that car. Me and my two Brothers called it the "GUTLESS" It was anything but gutless though.
Don't worry, I will only call yours righteous!

Re: Dear God what have I done? '69 Cutlass make-over

Sorry about the one "crappy" pic, but that's all I have for now. I am planning on stopping this weekend and will update with more and better pictures. Car is supposed to be done and the end of the month. WOOHOO!!! I can't wait! I imagine I'll be EXTREMELY nervous driving it that first time. Thanks for all the kind comments.
