Paint Code Question

Purchased a '74 C10 that's a factory short bed with 454, auto and 3.73 rear. Truck is currently brown, but I'm planning to restore it to the original Rosedale Red. SPID is partially faded, and paint code is either 451, 461 or 491 and reads ROSEDALE RED/WHITE-C, or could be WHITE-O. Anyone know what the correct option code is for this combination and what the "WHITE" part means? I'm guessing it's a white center panel, but not sure.

Re: Paint Code Question

Could you zoom in on the SPID and post that, please?

Re: Paint Code Question

Well, I managed to find some SPIDS with code 461. And those were all two-tone red and white trucks. But none were for Rosedale red. So, I'm not sure if the code on mine is 461 or something else. But it's definitely a two-tone. Did the trucks with the white side panels always have a white top as well? Or did they also offer them with white side panel and body color top?

Re: Paint Code Question

Rosedale Red with deluxe two-tone is RPO 491, 461 is Crimson red. Check out the vehicle info packet at this website- page 20 of the pdf shows the Conventional, Special and Deluxe two-tone paint schemes. It also shows that the secondary color for two-tone is white.
https://www.gmheritagecenter.com/gm-...tion-kits.html

Since 491 is the deluxe two-tone paint code the cab roof, cab back panel above the belt line and the areas between the upper and lower trim are painted frost white with the main body color applied to all other areas.

Re: Paint Code Question

Good work MJN. I was going to say that it looked a lot more like a 491 in that picture to me than a 461 or 451. Glad you could solve the mystery.
