What did Ya'll get done?

I was on call this weekend. All I managed to do was burn two tanks of gas trying to keep all my machines running.

I did get to see most of my daughter volleyball tournament yesterday. They had an awesome day. The took second in the open division, and was soooo close to taking first.

That's about it for me. What did ya'll get done?

I worked some more on my Ramjet/Megasquirt install.

The ramjet intake requires you to use a small cap distributor. I've been fighting ignition problems with my truck ever since I got it running with MS. Like I posted before, I was running a points distributor converted to electronic with a Crane XR-i kit (like a Pertronix ignitor). It worked well idling, but as soon as I hooked vacuum to the vacuum advance it would start bucking and missing like crazy.

I test drove the truck with the vacuum advance disconnected and it showed the same symptoms when the mechanical advance would start to kick it. I think the bushings were worn causing the crane sensor to move away from the shaft of the distributor when the advance plate moved. This would cause it to drop signals here and there losing spark and fuel. I decided not to mess with this unknown and go with a known good distributor.

I waited for a while hoping MS-2 would come out and I could use my 8 pin small cap HEI with no built in advance mechanisms (Megasquirt 2 will add full ignition control and is supposed to be out in the next few weeks) but I couldn't wait any more. I got an MSD pro-billet ready to run for my 350 Chev and hooked it up.

I started the truck and set the timing and it was already running better than it had. I took it for a test drive and saw crazy rpm fluctuations on my laptop whenever I went above 2k rpm. I read up on it and added a 30k ohm resistor inline with my tach wire to MS, problem solved.

Anyhow, the truck is running as good as it ever did on the carb and I haven't really tuned my fuel map other than idling yet. I put about 50 miles on it this afternoon with no problems. It will only get better from here...

I drove to TN to meet board member REV to pick up my new project truck!! Today I pulled the alarm from the truck that woke me up 3 times last night!! Pulled my old project frame apart so I can sell the rearend parts and suspension. Got the frame stripped down!! Now time to take it to the dump!! I had a great weekend.

Nothing this weekend. Had an out of town company meeting. Still trying to sort through all the emissions gear looking for my vacuum leak. It's just too cold out to get much done.

Saturday, went to a junkyard. Picked up another suburban rear door for the factory tinted glass and a driver's side fender to replace the aftermarket one on my truck presently. Grabbed another headlight bezel. Located a good tinted windshield, without antenae and a perfect front bumper, which I'll pickup in a week or two.

Sunday, a couple of errands with family. Dinner at a Chinese restaurant. Watching the pro bowl.

I actually worked on my Blazer a bit today, since it stopped raining. I rolled my 327 out, and started cleaning it up to put in. I went to pull the Chevrolet valve covers off of the 350 presently in my Blazer, and saw a brand new set of aluminum 1.6 roller rockers in place. A little bit more looking, and the engine in my truck is almost new. Not a bit of sludge anywhere. I knew the truck had a pretty aggressive cam in it, so I decided I would probably be money and time ahead to clean up what I have and see why it is such a slug. I did drive the truck around the block, though.

I got in a wreck. I was stoped at a stop sign, turned left and some jerk off was driving down the middle of the road and slamed on his brake's to avoid hitting me so he just slamed into the truck when i was already in my lane. DPS officer came by and blamed me and said I ran the stop sign. Me and dad are going to court about this.

I worked this weekend but here are a few highlights from my week.....

Monday---Went to traffic court and found out my speeding ticket is going to cost $350.

Confirmed that the frame rails I ordered from Art Morrison will be shipped this week!

Wednesday---After being out of work for nearly 2-months, I got a job working construction. Start off at $15 an hour w/ free lunch and fuel compensation. I'm also going to Idaho for a week to build a 26x26' garage.

Hmmm, since Saturday before LAST I have been Scambling around trying to get my brothers 2000 Silverado ready for the car show to promote our new business http://www.gracemotorsports.com selling/installing these kits http://www.ststurbo.com. The car that was supposed to be in the show couldn't get his Camaro SS together so we had to get his daily Driver ready before Thursday. We spent last weekend cleaning the truck and the week waxing polishing it. This was all while he was sick with Pinkeye and a sinus infection, yippie. Then I pretty much was stuck there everyday from Thursday to Sunday.
