Drag(street) racing murder trial, verdict

I won't go int o specifics but a few weeks ago the wifey called my attention to Court TV and i got hooked on following this trail from a double death related to street racing in San Diego, Ca. they were trying to get these guys 30 Years each! I will say they got off lucky with the arguements the prosecutors had made, but damn even at 7 & 12 years.
guys it was pathetic the day i watched seeing how the Prosecuting lawyers tried to make these guys look like serial killers for bolting on Holley carburetors , headers and mag wheels.

One question the lawyer asked about the guys line loc and then proceded to tell the jury how this makes his car faster

man, I must be getting old to play 'father' to this crowd.

Hey on a brighter note .

How do you tell a dead lawyer in the road from a dead snake in the road??

There will be skid marks in front of the dead snake!

I ran over a snake the other day with the blazer... I felt like poop when I saw it flopping around in my mirror... It was either hit the ditch, hit a bus, or run over the snake, I chose the snake

Similar case in Detroit

There was a similar case in Detroit last year, only the cops were sitting by watching the race action. Mustang lost control and killed a couple bystanders. Cops were charged for negligent homicide/manslaughter for not stopping it. Drivers also charged. City got sued bigtime by the deceased families.

I'll give you a odd one,
A guy had one of our trucks (mid 80's) that he got from the military. It still wore it's CARC camo paint and he was going down the road when this old bat pulled right in front of him.
He hit the bag and she sued and won.
She claimed she couldn't see the truck due to it's camo paint.
This occured in broad daylight.

Absurd indeed.
Maybe we should shoot more judges for allowing such suits.

There could be mark's in front of the dead lawyer from hard accelaration to make shure he was hit hard enough to be killed and not be able to slither away.

There was a case that just ended last week @ the Ft. Lauderdale court house where this guy in a 2002 Pontiac T/A was doing over 100MPH on a residential street and this teenage girl was backing out of her drive way and he slamed into her killing her and a friend.

And he got convicted not shure how many years he's gonna get but the state used the airbag computer form his car to show that it recorded the speed over a 100 at time of impact or airbag deployment and of corse he said he was only doing about 50 or 60MPH.

It's the first case of it's kind in the country to ues on board computer's that record information to convict someone of a crime and it's likely the auto Mfg's will be adding more parameters to record things like throttle position, hydraulic press. in the brake lines, what gear the trany was in, Eng. RPM'S, and so on.

as to what 87 stepper said, on Discovery a while back they had a whole show as to how they will now bw using the computer int he car to determine how fast etc the car was moving prior to impact. Its good in one way but bad in another. IMHO noone has the right to do 100MPH down the street especially in a residential neighborhood and if thats what it takes to convict an imbicle for vehicular manslaughter then sobe it im all for it. I just hope that this wont be twisted so that insurance companies will find loophole to gt out of covering accidents.
As for lawyers yes some of them do push the limits but in many instances they do help. last year my daughter was struck by a car and my lawyer got her a decent settlement. some people wont see it that way but heyim sure 99% of these peopel who whine about lawyers will be the first one hiring the ambluance chaser the first time someone rear ends them
