Turbo 350TH "K" case support brackets question

Can anyone help with my question? I needed a torque converter dust cover, in the process I found out it was a 6 bolt. I found one, bolted it on and was wondering if the two holes in the bottom are for the support brackets? Will these brackets work on my '72 K10 with the 350? If so where can I find something like this? I'd like the finished look. Thanks for reading.

Re: Turbo 350TH "K" case support brackets question

There are some steel plates that fit under the engine mounts, from there there are a couple of round steel rods that fit between the mounts and the bell

Thanks for the information. Any idea where I could possibly find a set, or which vehicle its commonly on that I can start calling wrecking yards. Thanks for your time again.

Re: Turbo 350TH "K" case support brackets question

I am rebuilding a 72 with a 350/350 205 k10. It came with the TC support bracket, but from what I have researched it is not needed. The split is about 50/50. If you are going to off-road it I would leave it off. You can get bushing from LMC, Summit, etc. As for finding 1 I would try theparts board. On my 76 with a 350/350 203 combo, it had no support stock.
Hope thiswas helpful

Re: Turbo 350TH "K" case support brackets question

These trucks never had the support rods. I never heard of a K case until the '80s trucks. '73 was the first year for NP203, so no provision for the support rods. Your truck will look as finished as all the others. If it's just the two unused holes that concern you, put bolts in them

Special-K
Did screw this up? I thought the "K " case was a typo. Never heard of a one. Are they from Blazers with the torque rods? Would you please educate me?
Thanks

Re: Turbo 350TH "K" case support brackets question

I was getting the feeling he was doing an upgrade for x-tra strength. Did the same thing on my dually since I had the later model transmission case. The support rods and plates can be found up into the later 80s and mid 90 with the 700 trans

Re: Turbo 350TH "K" case support brackets question

The "K" case is from sometime after 73 and applies to all 4wd transmissions, of the newer era, TH350, TH700R4 and I believe TH400 too. The support rods do go to brackets under the motor mounts, all this could be retrofitted to a 67-72 but they were not factory. Any set of support rods will work and the distance from the cover to the motor mounts is all the same. Now some here are talking about the support rod from the transfer case to the bellhousing, those do differ by transmission and transfer case.

Re: Turbo 350TH "K" case support brackets question

I think special k is talking about the two holes on the side of some 205 trans cases, some came with a bracket that bolted there to the frame, I have heard alot on this site to never use that bracket, you can break your case....I think you are referring to the rods that go from the trans to the engine or bell housing on later trucks...81 and later but not sure...

I believe he's talking about the same rods you are referring. And Tim is correct. I've also heard bad news about the side bracket your talking about but have never personally seen a problem because of it.
